Good Afternoon! Bravo on a wonderful Christmas concert!!! Very Proud of the work you all have put in this semester!
Announcements:
The deadline to upload your Vaccination Card has passed. If you did not get it submitted you are considered unvaccinated.
Students who are unvaccinated NEED to take a test today at some point so that they can quarantine if they are positive.
If you are going to be absent from any mass band rehearsal, I MUST know beforehand. We need everyone there as time is limited on putting this together not to mention the work that it takes to march 6 1/2 miles.
All-West music is posted. If you are attending all west see me at the beginning of class tomorrow.
At this point all debt should be paid off. If it is not it has been turned in to Mr. Hughes and Mrs. Kim in the front office.
As the fall semester is coming to a close, I would like to remind you that we grow the most during concert band. We play much more difficult music during this season, and we want everyone to succeed. With that being said, if you are going to be in marching band next fall then it would be wise to be in concert band in the spring. Your scale test (final exam) will determine you chair placement for next fall's marching show.
Sign-ups for ensembles have ended. You are more than welcome to continue to add to the sign-up but at this point if you are on the list then you will be responsible for your portion of the music if you drop. There are no excused absences other than quarantine for ensembles. If you miss two rehearsals, you will not receive lettering credit for that ensemble.
Lessons will continue with Mr. Congiardo this week. This is the last week for lessons with Mr. C. until after the break. Make sure you practice when you can.
Final exams continue today. Students will play all 12 major scales from memory for myself, Mr. Leslie, or Mr. Tate. This is very important as it will decide chair placement for the spring semester AND for the fall marching show next year.
Mass Band:
We will load the trailer this Thursday with Uniforms and Instruments. Be prepared to Tripple check everything!!!!
The recommendation is for them to self-test at home starting TODAY and then again within 72 hours so if they are positive they can self-isolate for 10 days before we leave for the trip and still go on the trip. They are REQUIRED to have a clinical test no more than 72 hours prior to our departure on the 27th. Some schools are offering this option or you can visit Walgreens in Milan or Union City to have a free clinical test.
This Saturday we will wear shako, plume, hat wrap, and shoes. Make sure you have this for rehearsal as everyone will need theirs. You will also need to wear your marching black socks that you will wear during the parade.
If you need to find the Itinerary for what time we load and leave on the 27th then please look at the bands website under the Rose Parade tab.
