  • Announcements:

  • Thanks to everyone who came and supported the teams/pep band this past week at the basketball games!

  • Great Job by the 10 students from the GC Band who participated in the UT Martin Honor Band this past Thursday-Saturday! They worked hard in rehearsal and had some FANTASTIC CONCERTS yesterday in front of a capacity crowd!

  • All-West contracts MUST be turned in TOMORROW! Mr. Tate has to have them postmarked TOMORROW so they must be signed and given to him so please take care of this if your student plans to attend the event!

  • Jazz Band will meet TOMORROW from 3:15-4:30

  • Percussion Ensemble will meet this week on Tuesday & Thursday from 4-6:30

  • University of Memphis Honor Band students MUST pay their room money by this Friday! The rates are $34 for students with a room of 5 and $63 for students with a room of 3. Students should also be preparing a solo piece, scales, and sight reading for their audition next Thursday (5th) in Memphis. A bus will transport students to the event but will leave after the drop-off. Parents are expected to pick up their child after the concerts on that Saturday of the Honor Band. Students will need to bring their own breakfast food to eat in the hotel and will need money for 3 meals on campus (fast food).

  • The Percussion Section will participate in the Lights, Camera, Fashion Show this Saturday at the Carl Perkins Civic Center in Jackson. I know they will represent the GC Band and Gibson County well!

  • For students who did not have the remaining balance on their Championship Ring when the Jostens representative came this past Tuesday, you will need to contact him (Brent Arvik) atbrent.arvik@jostens.com or 1-800-jostens to make arrangements to make the final payment and get your ring.

  • Solo & Ensemble will be held at North Side HS in Jackson on Saturday, March 7th! All students are encouraged to participate. We will be picking our solos and ensembles in band class over the next week. All students who participate are required to pay $10 per event registered. Remember in order to receive lettering credit for the event your student MUST receive a I (1 - Superior) rating on SOLOS ONLY! Be sure you communicate with your child if you want him/her to participate. We will take a bus from the high school that morning or students can provide their own transportation to the event.

  • Just a reminder that several students still owe debts from this past fall. These debts have been turned over to the office for collection. Students will not be allowed to attend June rehearsals or receive their diploma until these debts are paid in full. Please take care of these in a timely manner.
