Rehearsal Schedule for the week:

  • Monday - Jazz Band - 3:15-4:30 - Band Room

  • Wednesday - Woodwind Ensemble/Low Brass Ensemble - 3:15-4:30 - Band Room/Cafeteria

  • Thursday - Brass Ensemble - 3:15-4:30 - Band Room

Announcements:

  • CONGRATULATIONS! to the 27 students from the GC Band who participated in the Solo & Ensemble Festival this past Saturday at North Side HS in Jackson! Out of the 27 students, 24 of them received a SUPERIOR RATING (I) and 3 of them received an EXCELLENT RATING (II)!!! Tremendous job by all of the students involved!

  • Fall 2018 Color Guard Clinics begin TOMORROW from 3:30-5:00 in the main gym. Information sheets have been available in the office and the band room for the last two weeks. This information has also been available at all middle schools. Encourage any student in grades 8-11 interested to attend tomorrow! If a student is involved in the after school rehearsals with the middle school band they will need to communicate with Mr. Agee that they are interested in trying out for the guard but they MUST attend the middle school rehearsal instead of the guard clinic.

  • The NY Trip Final Documents/Information Meeting is TOMORROW NIGHT! Notaries will be on hand from 6-6:30 (YOU MUST HAVE AN ID WITH YOU BEFORE YOU SIGN). We will start the meeting at 6:30 with our Thomas Tours representative. We will have a brief band booster meeting following by a chaperone meeting in the conference room. Attendance is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

  • This Tuesday night are our Middle School Concerts @ 6:30 in the theater! This is worth concert lettering credit for those needing to get this completed by the April 15th deadline. Come out and support our future "Marching Pioneers"!

  • We will begin going outside this week in preparation for the St. Patrick's Day Parade in NY! Students will need to dress appropriately for the weather and be sure and have proper marching shoes on each day! EVERYONE will go outside and march/play regardless if they are going on the trip or not!

  • The band still has a lot of outstanding debt to collect from this past fall. If you have not paid off your debt from this past fall your student will NOT be allowed to attend the 1st June rehearsal or receive his/her diploma if the debt has not been off in full!

Upcoming Dates:

  • Monday, March 12th - Memorization Test over St. Patrick's Day Parade tune. EVERYONE will test over this tune regardless if they are going on the trip or not.

  • Monday, March 12th - Color Guard Audition Clinic #2 - 3:30-5:00 - Main Gym

  • Thursday, March 15th - Leave for New York!!!! We will depart the back parking lot promptly at 7:00 am so plan to arrive early in order to load.
