  • Tuesday - Full Band (3-5) in the stadium
  • Thursday - Full Band (6-9) in the stadium
  • Friday - Full Band (1:30-3:30); Depart for State @ 4:00 (or as soon as we can have all 3 buses back from their routes)
  • Saturday - DIVISION I STATE BAND CHAMPIONSHIPS!
Announcements:
  • A BIG THANK YOU for all those who came out in the rain this past Friday to support our band seniors on Senior Night!  What a great group of students and a great group of you showed up to support them on this special night!
  • Thanks to all those who made the trip up to Austin Peay this past Saturday!  We had a pretty good run despite the weather conditions but the judges' opinion of the band greatly varied by caption (one judge had us in 1st overall and another judge had us in 18th overall).  Like I told the kids on Saturday we can't control what the judges think but we can control what we do with it.  We either sulk because we didn't make finals or we use it as motivation as we move into this week of state week rehearsals!
  • THIS IS STATE WEEK!  This is always the week we work toward since the first note was played on this show back in May/June.  It's an exciting time for the students, staff, and you the parents as you get all of the hard work that has been put into this show come to an end on Saturday at the Division I State Championships held in Murfreesboro!
  • The rehearsal schedule is a little different this week.  Guard will not have a sectional TOMORROW since Ms. DeDe's schedule allows her to come to rehearsal on Tuesday.  Since the guard is not having a sectional on Tuesday then the percussion sectional for tomorrow has been moved up to 3:30 and will conclude at 6:30.  Make arrangements accordingly.
  • Room money for state ($53.64 for 6 in a room, $64.37 for 5 in a room, and $80.46 for 4 in a room) is due NO LATER THAN THIS TUESDAY!  We have to have our check to the hotel THIS WEEK so we need EVERYONE to pay their room money by THIS Tuesday!
  • On Tuesday we will have regular rehearsal from 3:15-5:00 in the stadium.
  • The final band fee payment of $30 is due THIS WEDNESDAY!  If you have made all of your payments on time then this should complete your band fee payments.  If you have more than one child in the band then you are exempt from this final payment.
  • Rada Knive Orders + $$$ are due THIS THURSDAY in order to receive credit for your November 3rd NYC Trip Payment.
  • On Thursday we will rehearse in the stadium from 6-9 pm!  Each student should have his/her polo on as their top layer of clothes so that everyone looks the same at rehearsal.  We have asked several folks to come in and critique the band so it's VERY IMPORTANT that each student is present.  Students will be dismissed after school so they can work on homework BEFORE rehearsal @ 6.
  • The 4th NYC Trip Payment is due THIS FRIDAY to Thomas Tours.  Make sure that all payments are postmarked by Friday.  Contact Thomas Tours with questions or concerns.
  • On Friday we will rehearse from 1:30 until 3:30 in the stadium.  We will load from 3:30-4.  We will depart GC @ 4:00 for Franklin with a police escort to the county line.  I hope as many of you that can will be a part of the caravan as we leave GC!  See attached itinerary for exact details for the weekend.  If you are not able to travel up on Friday night then I hope you all plan to fill the stands on Saturday @ 1:45 to help cheer on the band!  There are 27 bands competing in prelims (schedule attached) for 10 finals competition slots.  Those slots will be announced right after the preliminary competition ends.  Students will need money for four meals (1 on Friday, 2 on Saturday,  and 1 on Sunday).  All meals should be $5-10/each.  Students will need to pack CONSERVATIVELY for a 2 day trip.  Luggage storage on the bus is very limited so make sure your student ONLY takes the bare essentials for the weekend.  Ride Home Forms are due no later than Thursday at 9:00 pm (end of rehearsal).
  • On Sunday students will wake up and eat breakfast.  We will have a devotional service in one of the conference rooms at the hotel at 10:30.  All of you invited to attend regardless if you are staying at the band's hotel or not.  We will have a local youth pastor that Mark Kilpatrick from Dyer has found to speak that morning.  Immediately after the devotional service you can check our your child then or you can check them our when we get ready to leave the mall.  We will likely have another police escort back in to Dyer from the Gibson County line if you would like to join the caravan!
  • Fruit/Nut Sales begin NEXT WEEK!  25% of the profit that each student sells will go towards his/her NYC Trip!
