  • BAND CAMP IS COMPLETE!! 81 pages of drill are on the field-marching and playing! The kids did a fantastic job this past 2 weeks at camp! Thanks to any parent who helped in any way with meals for the staff. All meals were greatly appreciated and enjoyed!

  • Thanks to Donnie Cox and anyone who helped on his crew to unload/load and paint the inside of the trailer this past week. It looks great!

  • Thanks to Amy Thornton and anyone who helped her unload/sort/deliver peaches this past Wednesday!

  • Thanks to Maureen Crews for all the wonderful pictures that can be viewed on the band's website- http://gchsmarchingpioneers.org

  • Mr. Tate told the kids Friday the worst thing they can do over this off week is to not work on their drill/music that has been learned during camp. THEY MUST PRACTICE! If they are on vacation, at least take their music/dot book with them to review so they don't forget everything! It's going to be a great year but we must improve each rehearsal in order to achieve our full potential by the end of the season!

  • Our next rehearsals will be July 30 (6-9 p.m.); August 1 (6-9); and August 6 (6:30-9:00). Attendance is MANDATORY at all 3 rehearsals! The August 6 rehearsal is starting 30 minutes later due to Freshman Orientation being held at GC from 5:30-6:30.

  • Don't forget all shirt/merchandise orders and money are due by the August 6 rehearsal. Remember DO NOT include the student's free theme shirt on your order form or you will be charged for it. A form was sent home last week with each student and an email was sent with the attached form/prices.

  • All percussion fees ($85) or shirt sponsors must be turned in by August 6.

  • School begins August 7 with a 1/2 day from 7:55-11:30. Regular after school rehearsal schedule will begin Thursday, August 8 from 3-5 p.m. After the start of the year, all rehearsals are figured into the student's grade for the 9 weeks. Unexcused absences will cause a student's grade to drop. 2 unexcused absences will cause a student to lose his/her spot in the Fall 2013 show. Check the band handbook as to what is deemed excused/unexcused.

  • Polos ($15) and shoes ($34) will be ordered int he coming weeks and MUST be paid in advance BEFORE a student will receive his/her polo/shoes. Polos will be worn the first time on August 22. Shoes will not be worn until the first of September so make plans now to get these items paid for BEFORE your student needs them.

  • Unless payment arrangements were made, the $125 band fee payment is now considered a debt and should be take care of ASAP.

  • LAST CALL FOR TRAILER SPONSORS!! Sponsorships are $50 and the name remains on the trailer for the entire year. Send in your form (can be found on website) and your money BEFORE August 16th-firm deadline!

  • All students goin on the Disney trip in the Spring received a fundraiser this past week for a chance to win tickets to a St. Louis Cardinal game with a donation to the band. All monies raised will go directly into the student's trip account at Thomas Tours. If you have questions, contact Tina Gray.

  • The first payment of $150 is due August 15 to Thomas Tours. If a student has raised their first payment, you don't have to worry about sending any money. This is for any student who hasn't raised that amount or for any NON-BAND student/parent/guest attending the trip. Contact Thomas Tours to check yoru trip account balance. FYI-The peaches check will be mailed this week. Each student will receive $5 into his/her trip account for every box of peaches individually sold.

  • Our annual Preview Night will be held August 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the GC stadium. This is your first opportunity to see the Fall 2013 production "Dare to Dream". The show will be followed by a hamburger/hot dog dinner. Tickets will go on sale ~2 weeks before the show for $5 each. Go ahead and begin inviting friends and family to attend this great event! In addition to Preview Night, we will once again host the "Dodge Booster Drive" from 5-8 p.m. at the main entrance of the school. This is an easy fundraiser! For every person who test drives a car, the band receives $20 so we need 100% participation!!!
