  • Announcements:

  • Thanks to all those who helped in any way make the Steak Dinner for the students a success! It was a great night of celebration!

  • Thanks to all those who lined the streets of Dyer on Saturday to help cheer on the band at the parade!

  • We are still missing 2 boxes of gala apples and 2 boxes of pears. If you have this extra fruit that your people did not order please send it back to the school ASAP so we can get it to its rightful owner or the band will have to refund their money to them.

  • End of Course TESTS start TOMORROW! These tests are worth 25% of your student's grade in that particular class for the nine weeks! Be sure they are getting a good night's rest and a good breakfast each day before they test!

  • For those auditioning for the All-West TN Honor Bands on January 17th, lessons with Mr. Tate will begin THIS WEEK! Students have signed up for lessons on either Tuesday or Thursday of this week. They are expected to have at least one of their All-West etudes worked up (notes + rhythms) for our lesson this week. Lessons are scheduled 10 minutes apart and students are expected to be at the office door and ready to go at his/her lesson time. Remember recordings are available on the WTSBOA website. That link is posted on the band's website.

  • Memory Book Order Forms + a $15 deposit are due THIS FRIDAY! See last week's announcements for a copy of the form.

  • Guard Members MUST have their Silent Auction items for next Sunday's Silent Auction turned in by Saturday (13th)!

  • The county-wide Christmas Concert will held NEXT SUNDAY (14th) @ 2:00 pm in the theatre at the high school! This is a MANDATORY performance grade for all members of the marching band. Students will have to be in their seats in the band room dressed in concert attire (NO JEANS, TSHIRTS, SHORTS, OR TENNIS SHOES) @ 1:15. The concert will run at a 20 minute interval starting with the 6th grade band followed the by both 7th/8th grade bands. The high school is expected to perform at ~3:00. Please reserve seats for those parents and family members who have students on stage at that particular time. All equipment will have to be moved back to the band room BEFORE students will be dismissed following the concert. There will be a band boosters meeting held in the theatre immediately following the high school's concert. This concert is FREE and open to the public! Invite your friends and family out to this event in an effort to help spread some holiday cheer!

  • A debt list from this past fall was compiled and posted on the office window this past week! Students are expected to have ALL debts paid off before we leave for Christmas Break (19th) unless payment arrangements have been made! These debts will then be turned over to the office for collection. Students will not receive report cards, attend prom, or eventually receive their diploma until all debts have been paid. Students who are not seniors will not be allowed to attend June rehearsal next summer unless all band debts have been cleared. Make every effort to pay these off by the 19th! Ask your student if he/she has checked the list!

  • The band's FINAL EXAM begins NEXT MONDAY!!! This grade is worth 20% of your student's grade for the ENTIRE SEMESTER! Band at the high school level is a fine arts credit so it counts toward their GPA. Please make sure your student is practicing and prepared. They know what is going to be asked for their exam and even the order that the scales will be asked in so there is no excuse for ANY student to not do well on the final!

  • The final exam schedule for the school will be NEXT THURSDAY (2nd & 4th blocks) & FRIDAY (1st & 3rd blocks)! Be sure your student is prepared for these exams!

  • A sign-up sheet for Jazz Band that will begin in the spring has been posted on the office window. Make sure your student signs up by THIS FRIDAY if they are interested in participating so Mr. Brockman can prepare for the proper instrumentation in the spring.
