Hopefully everyone had a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
Composite Picture orders are due TOMORROW! If you do not turn it in tomorrow you will have to contact Alford Studios in Memphis about ordering.
Memory Book orders and $15 deposit are due THIS TUESDAY in order to secure your copy of a band memory book for the 13-14 year. These books will be delivered at the Band Banquet in May. All remaining balances will be due before the banquet in order to receive your book.
All 15 students trying out for All-West will begin lessons with Mr. Tate this week. Lessons will be 10 minutes each on Tuesday or Thursday of this week. Check with your student to see which time he/she chose. All lessons are after school and the band room will be open the entire time (~4:45) for your student practice is he/she wishes. Each All-West student will be expected to play their 1st All-West etude on Tuesday.
Fruit/Nuts will arrive THIS WEEK! We should have an idea as to which day by tomorrow (hopefully). When we know, it will be emailed so each student/parent will need to make sure their orders are picked up in the band room by 5 p.m. that day. The band will NOT be responsible for any fruit that spoils after this day. If fruit comes in on an All-West lesson day, we will move the lesson until Wednesday-please make plans accordingly.
Students will be allowed to take uniforms home this Thursday/Friday for the Dyer Christmas Parade on Saturday.
UT Martin is offering a FREE HELP SESSION THIS SATURDAY for all students trying out for All-West. The session is from 2-5 p.m. @ UTM. All students trying out for All-West are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to take advantage of this FREE OPPORTUNITY working with folks who could very well be among the judges at the auditions in January. Mr. Tate has talked to the faculty @ UTM and explained to them we have a parade so they are willing to allow our students to participate from 2-4 if they wish. Mr. Tate will excuse any student who is late to the parade (by 4:45) who attends the UTM event! Dyer Christmas Parade is THIS SATURDAY @ 5 p.m. Line-up will be at 4:15 in the Tri-City Reporter parking lot across from Tiger Express. All students are REQUIRED to be here at this time dressed in FULL UNIFORM with his/her equipment. Mr. Tate will be at the band room from 3:30-4:00for anyone who has needs to get their uniform/equipment.
The Band Final Exam begins 2 WEEKS FROM TOMORROW! Be sure your student is preparing for this exam.
All Guard members need to pick up their final items for the Silent Auction! All items need to be at the school BY WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 18! Contact Ms. DeDe with any questions.
All debts MUST BE PAID IN FULL BY FRIDAY, DECEMBER 20 or they will be turned in to the main office for collection (unless prior payment arrangements have been made).
Upcoming Dates:
December 10th-12th - EOC Exams! Students need to be at school each and every day leading up to these EXTREMELY IMPORTANT EXAMS!
Sunday, December 15th - County-Wide Christmas Concert - 2:00 pm - Theatre - Students will report to the band room in Sunday-like attire at1:15. This performance is MANDATORY! The Jr. High Bands will perform from 2:00 until 3:30. The high school students will perform at 3:30. Please reserve any seats in the theatre for parents/family who have students on the stage performing at that time. A booster meeting will follow the concert in the theatre! Please make a point to attend.
Monday, December 16th - Band Final Exam BEGINS!
December 19th-20th - Finals Exams
Friday, December 20th - All Fall debts MUST be paid! Christmas Break BEGINS @ 11:30!
