​THANKS to all who came out to support the percussion section in their annual 5K this past Saturday!
Another GREAT REHEARSAL was held this past Tuesday! We covered letters M-BB. All students should be practicing the beginning to letter BB. Just remember "we will only be as good as our weakest link" so please encourage each student to practice, practice, practice!!!
The 3rd and final June rehearsal will be Tuesday, June 24 from 6-9 p.m. Remember students are REQUIRED to attend at least 2 of the 3 June rehearsals in order to secure a spot in the Fall show! We will cover letters BB-end this week.
We will have solo auditions this week! Any student wishing to audition for a solo in our Fall Show MUST audition this Tuesday night!
Students need to bring FOUR THINGS THIS WEEK TO REHEARSAL: 1-All 5 forms (COMPLETED) that were in your summer mail out. Go tohttp://gchsmarchingpioneers.org if you have lost or misplaced them. 2-The first $35 band fee payment. We need to pay staff Tuesday night so make every attempt to get this turned in on time. 3-Peaches order form and money! Each student was asked to sell 3 trays of peaches or get $30 in donations. Please make sure everyone does his/her part in this fundraiser! 4-Boston Butt order form and money. This is an optional fundraiser but a great way to get some really good BBQ for July 4!
If your student is NOT going to be at this upcoming rehearsal, be sure the above things are turned in by another student. NO EXTENSION ON THESE DEADLINES.
Percussionists need to pay their $85 percussion fee or get 4 shirt sponsors by August 6!
All color guard members need to begin bringing the first $60 of their guard fees to cover gloves and the uniform deposit.
Our parents will set up the fireworks tent THIS TUESDAY @ 6 p.m. during our rehearsal time. THEY NEED YOUR HELP! Be at Food Rite in Dyer right after you drop off your child and you can help! If enough people show up, it will not take long at all!
Trailer Sponsorships are ONLY $50 and are due by August! See our website for the form.
The Color Guard will sell homemade ice cream for the band during the Dyer Station Celebration Street Dance to be held NEXT THURSDAY NIGHT July 3! We need you to make some HOMEMADE ICE CREAM! Although the Color Guard mans this fundraiser, the funds go to the entire band. We need the ice cream brought in a deposiable container behind the OLD Farmers and Merchants Bank (now the Dyer City Hall) July 3 between 6-6:30 p.m. Susan Barker is in charge of this fundraiser! Please contact her @ susan.barker@wth.org and let Susan know you can help!
All students will receive July 4 Parade music at this week's rehearsal. WE NEED EVERY STUDENT WHO IS IN TOWN TO SHOW UP TO REHEARSAL AND THE PARADE(S) ON JULY 3 AND 4. We will rehearse July 3 from 9-11 a.m. in the band room. We will march in the Dyer parade on the 4th @ 9 a.m. We will meet across the railroad tracks behind the old Farmer and Merchants Bank @ 8:15 a.m. We typically march in Kenton parade @ 11 a.m. but Mr. Tate has heard nothing from Kenton so he will let you know if he gets any information. Students will wear khaki shorts with a red, white or blue tshirt TUCKED IN with tennis shoes. Remember, if students attend BOTH the rehearsal and parades they will get lettering credit toward earning a letter in band for the 14/15 school year. This is huge when applying for scholarships as a senior!
We still need FIREWORKS WORKERS! This takes EVERYONE to pull off this fundraiser! See Kim Todd's email from earlier this week for the available shirts and contact her if you haven't already.
Remember to promote our fireworks to family and friends! The stand is located in the Food Rite parking lot in Dyer. The hours vary depending on the date. You can look at the schedule Kim sent our earlier to see the hours by date. The band receives all profits so ADVERTISE FOR US!! The stand opens THIS WEDNESDAY! Tell them we will accept credit/debit cards this year! All fireworks are BUY 1 GET 1 FREE! You won't find a better deal int he area and be able to support a better organization at the same time! Our advertising is by word of mouth so help promote our stand!
Just a reminder to make sure all students are spending some time outside so they are ready for camp! It's going to be HOT so be sure your student is physically ready!

July 7-11 - Guard/Percussion Camp - 8-4:30 - Attendance is MANDATORY!
July 9-11 - Fundamentals Camp (Outside!) - EVERYONE - 8-11:30 - Attendance is MANDATORY!
July 14-18 - Full Band Camp - EVERYONE - 8-DARK - Attendance is MANDATORY!
July 29, 31, and August 5th - Post Band Camp Rehearsals - 6-9pm - Attendance is MANDATORY!
