  • School starts this week! Hopefully all students have a copy of their schedule and are ready for a great year!

  • Freshman Orientation, for the entire Freshman Class, is this Tuesday From 5:30-6:30 in the GC Theatre. All incoming freshmen and their parents are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND!

  • Since Freshman Orientation isn't over until 6:30, we will not start Tuesday's rehearsal until 6:30 in the band room. Freshmen will have a chance to quickly change clothes and meet us on the field as soon as possible. Rehearsal will be 6:30-9:00.

  • All Merchandise Orders and Money are due THIS TUESDAY NIGHT! NO EXTRAS WILL BE ORDERED and no orders will be processed without full advanced payment. Be sure to get your orders in by the end of practice Tuesday night!

  • Trailer Sponsors are due NOW!

  • School begins Wednesday and is a 1/2 day. No breakfast or lunch will be served.

  • All Percussion Fees ($85) or 4 shirt sponsors ($100) are due THIS TUESDAY NIGHT!

  • Our first full day will be Thursday. We will have our regular after school rehearsal that afternoon from 3:15-5:00. Students should bring practice clothes to change into for band class and rehearsal on Thursday. They will have 10 minutes to change before class starts each day. They can store those clothes/shoes beside their instrument in the band room. They can also bring water/Gatorade/snacks (in small coolers) and place them beside their cases on the shelf each day.

  • All guard "hot weather performance uniforms" MUST be paid by Thursday in order for them to receive on Friday for the pictures for the paper. Contact Ms. DeDe for more information.

  • The band will take pictures for the newspapers this Friday during band class time. If you are a parent of an 8th grader who marches with the high school band and want them included in these pictures you will need to check them out of school and have them at the high school @ 1:30. This is NOT MANDATORY but an option if you are interested in making it happen. The band will wear uniforms but band shoes are not needed for this picture (no feet will show).

  • "A Night of Drum Corp" will be THIS FRIDAY NIGHT from 3-10 p.m. in the theater. This is a chance for students to see the best of the best when it comes to marching and playing LIVE! It will be live in theater on the big screen with full sound! Students can come at any time between the hours of 3 and 10. They do not have to stay the entire time. Each corps performance will last about 15-18 minutes. The later the times, the better the corp will be. Admission is $1 per student and concessions will be available in the lobby during breaks. Contact Tico for more information! Parents you are welcome to come to this also! Admission will be $1 per person.

  • Regular rehearsal schedule will begin NEXT WEEK:

  • Monday-Guard Sectionals (3-5); Percussion Sectionals (5-8)

  • Tuesday-Full Band (3-5); Hornline Sectionals (5-6)

  • Thursday-Full Band (3-5)

  • Rehearsal attendance is worth 33% of a student's grade for the nine weeks. Any unexcused absences will reduce a student's grade by 10 points. Remember, according to the handbook, if any student misses 2 unexcused rehearsals he/she will lose his/her spot in the competitive marching band. If a student is absent for an excused reason he/she MUST attend at least 2 out of the 3 "run throughs" for the week in order to march that weekend at the football game or the contest. WE NEED EVERY STUDENT AT EVERY REHEARSAL IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. It is very difficult to work on the show when people are missing. Remember to make all non-emergent doctor's appointments on non-rehearsals days.

  • The first memorization test over "Part 1" will be NEXT MONDAY during band class. The memorization grade makes up 34% of a student's grade for the nine weeks and they will NOT march at Preview Night until this has been played and passed!

  • The next band booster's meeting will be NEXT MONDAY NIGHT @ 7 p.m. in the band room!

  • Continue to pay for polos ($15) and marching shoes ($34). Students will need polos in 2 weeks for the preview night show. No student will receive his/her polo and/or marching shoes until full payment has been made.

  • Preview Night is August 22 @ 6:30 in the stadium. Tickets are $5 and will go on sale soon. Stay tuned for more information.

  • Our Dodge Booster Drive is August 22 from 5-8 in front of the school! Invite everyone you know to come out and test drive a Dodge. The band receives $20 for every person who shows up and test drives a Dodge!

  • The first initial payment for the spring Disney trip of $150 is due NEXT THURSDAY (August 15)!!! If you do not make this payment you will not be guaranteed a spot on the trip. There has been some question about students who have money in their trip accounts but don't plan on going on the trip. You can call Thomas Tours and move that money into another student's trip account or have Thomas Tours send a check back to the band's general fund. The will NOT send you a check.
