  • Announcements

  • HAPPY EASTER to all!

  • Progress Reports for all classes were sent home this past Thursday. The band progress report is due back no later than this Tuesday and must be signed by a parent. Please understand we have no had our memorization test or any performances this first 4.5 weeks so only 33% of the band student's grade, for this nine weeks, was reflected on their progress report.

  • The band will begin selling cases of 24 oz. Pepsi products TOMORROW to help raise funds for the 18 additional uniforms (~$8000) we had to purchase for next year. All students currently in grades 8-11 will be asked to sell at least 5 cases of products or get $30 in donations. Orders will be available for pick-up on May 21 in the back parking lot of GCHS. Seniors are asked to sell and help the GCHS Band tradition continue as they approach graduation.

  • If you are wanting to enjoy a Jackson General's game and support the band at the same time...well NOW YOU CAN! The Jackson Generals have proclaimed Friday, May 2 as the Gibson Co. Band Night! In order to support the band, tickets MUST be purchased in advance! Tickets will be on sale beginning TOMORROW and through Wednesday, April 30. Tickets are $10 each. This fundraiser will be used to pay for expenses associated with the band banquet and buses to the Strawberry Festival. All concert band students will be REQUIRED to attend/perform at this event. The game begins at7:05 p.m. and students will have to be at the ballpark by 6:20 p.m. We will play the National Anthem and then students will be dismissed to sit with their family/friends for the game or they may leave. We will take bus that night which will leave from GC @ 5:30 p.m. Please ask your family, friends, neighbors and all if they would like to attend this great fundraiser for our program! Send all money in an envelope with your student's name on the front along with "Jackson Generals" tickets and the quantity you need. Mr. Tate will give the tickets to the student to bring home and deliver. All students are asked to pre-sale at least 3 tickets to the game.

  • Band Banquet tickets go on sale TOMORROW! ALL marching band members are admitted to the banquet for FREE but you MUST let Mr. Tate know if you are planning to attend. The banquet is May 9 @ First Baptist Church in Dyer. Tickets are $12/each. Due to limited space, students in grades 8-11 are allowed to purchase up to TWO TICKETS per student. Seniors are allowed to purchase up to THREE TICKETS per student. Send your money in an envelope marked "Banquet Tickets" with your students name and the number of tickets needed. YOU WILL NOT BE ISSUED A PAPER TICKET FOR THIS EVENT. When we receive your money, a number of tickets sold will be listed by your student's name on the RSVP list to be located at the door when you enter. NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR AND YOU MUST HAVE YOUR NAME ON THE LIST TO ATTEND THE BANQUET-NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS. The last day to purchase a ticket is Friday, May 2 to allow us a firm number for our caterer.

  • Memorization Test over "Rise Again" will be TOMORROW during class. This will make up 34% of the student's grade for the current nine weeks. Failure to memorize the tune will result in a failing grade for the nine weeks and your student will NOT be allowed to march in either of the spring parades. Be sure they practice tonight and tomorrow during their hour long lunch time!

  • Jazz Band meets TOMORROW from 3:15-4:30 in the band room. Jazz Band only has 2 more rehearsals before their performance at the Teapot Music Feast April 29. It is IMPORTANT for each student to be at these final two practices!

  • Color Guard Audition Clinics continue TOMORROW from 3:30-5:00 in the main gym. If your student has not paid their $40 audition fee, they must do so ASAP!

  • Fall 2014 Percussion Auditions are TOMORROW NIGHT from 5-8 p.m. in the band room. All students auditioning for the section MUST attend auditions or they will automatically be an alternate for the fall season.

  • We begin Parade Band after school rehearsals THIS TUESDAY AND THURSDAY from 3:15-5:00 p.m. Tuesday's rehearsal is ONLY for students who are NOT in concert band and color guard members. Remember students NOT involved in a major spring sport MUST attend ALL parade band rehearsals or they will not be allowed to attend the Band Banquet.
