Announcements:
Here's to hoping that each of you had a joyous and enjoyable Thanksgiving!
Fruit & Nuts will be coming in THIS WEEK! Me. Tate will be checking with our fruit guy tomorrow to get an idea of what day they will be coming in and will communicate that information with you as soon as he receives it. Remember fruit/nuts MUST be picked up the day it comes in by 5:00 pm in order for us to assure our customers that they are receiving the freshest product!
The band is responsible for working the concession stand at this Tuesday night's basketball games (boys + girls)! The workers who have signed up to work this night are: The Langston's, Penny Pannell, Becky Kimble, and The Doss's. Contact Wendy Tate if you are unable to attend.
Composite Picture orders + money are due back NO LATER than THIS WEDNESDAY in order for us to insure that the pictures will be back before we leave for Christmas Break! Make all checks payable to Alford Studios.
Mr. Congiardo will continue his lessons this Thursday! He still has room for a few more students if your student is interested in improving on his/her instrument. Currently he has 7 students studying! Contact Mr. Tate if you are interested in getting your student signed up!
The band's STEAK CHAMPIONSHIP DINNER will be THIS THURSDAY NIGHT @ 6:30in the fellowship hall of the First Assembly of God Church in Dyer! This meal is for students/staff/pit crew/chaperones ONLY! Other parents are welcome to attend if you would like to help serve for this night of celebration!
Any student wishing to add/drop Concert Band from his/her schedule for the Spring Semester should do so by THIS FRIDAY so we can plan for the proper instrumentation for the spring! I highly encourage all students to participate in Concert Band because this is where students are able to develop as a musician which allows us to be at the competitive level in the fall that we are each year! Programs who do not have a high percentage of students in both marching and concert bands tend to see a decline in the success of both ensembles.
Remember students who do NOT participate in Concert Band MUST attend all parade band rehearsals and parades in order to attend the Band Banquet that will be held in early May!
Students auditioning for the All-West Honor Band need to pay their $10 registration fee by THIS FRIDAY! Make checks payable to the band and we will make one check out to the WTSBOA.
The Dyer Christmas Parade will be held THIS SATURDAY @ 5:00 pm in downtown Dyer! Students will have the opportunity to take their equipment and uniform home at the end of class on Friday. Students will meet dressed in FULL UNIFORM at 4:15 in front of the Tri-City Reporter in Dyer. Mr. Tate will be in the band room from 3:30-4 if there is anyone who wants to pick-up his/her equipment/uniform at that time and he will return to the band room for ~30 minutes immediately following the parade. All uniforms and equipment are due back NO LATER THAN next Mondayfollowing the parade!
UT Martin Honor Band applications were submitted last week. Students who are selected should hear back from UTM by December 8th (according to Dr. Oelrich). Those names will be posted as soon as Mr. Tate receives them from UTM.
Each year Ms. Maureen Crews designs an outstanding Band Memory Book which is full of pictures from the previous fall and spring semesters. It is kind of like a "band memory book". In this book you will find pictures from band camp, football games, competitions, and concerts. It's something that your child will want to share with their children. The cost of the book is $40 with the option of adding a DVD (shown at the band banquet) for $10. An order form is attached to this email. This order form along with a $15 deposit is due NO LATER THAN NEXT FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12TH! Memory Books will be distributed at the Band Banquet in May. Balances will be due a few weeks prior to the banquet.
All band fees/guard fees/percussion fees should be paid at this time unless payment arrangements have been made! These debts will be turned over to the office at Christmas Break to be collected! Remember students will not receive his/her report card, attend prom, or eventually get his/her diploma until these debts have been taken care of!
