Rehearsal Schedule for the week:

  • Monday - Jazz Band - 3:15-4:30 - Band Room

  • Tuesday - Percussion Ensemble - 5-8 - Band Room

  • Wednesday - Woodwind Ensemble/Low Brass Ensemble - 3:15-4:30 - Band Room/Cafeteria

  • Thursday - Brass Ensemble - 3:15-4:30 - Percussion Ensemble - 5-8 - Band Room

Announcements:

  • GREAT JOB by the 14 students from GC who performed at the UT Martin Honor Band Clinic this past Thursday-Saturday!

  • Ms. Sharon will be contacting each of you THIS WEEK to sign up for buses and hotel rooms for the New York Trip! Please respond to her in a timely manner as our room assignments MUST be turned in to Thomas Tours by the 1st! Students will sign up for their rooms, groups, and buses during band class time this week.

  • Shirt/Hoodie orders for the NY Trip are due THIS FRIDAY!

  • We will sign-up and pick out solos and ensembles for the Solo & Ensemble Festival to be held in Jackson on Saturday, March 3rd this week during band class time. If your student signs up for a solo and/or an ensemble he/she will have to pay the registration fee ($10/event) by THIS FRIDAY! Students will pick out their own solo/ensemble music for the event and are expected to do the majority of practice on their music on their own time. We are always available for questions but we will not start working with the students on their music until the week of the event. If students have not practiced their music by the time that we hear them then they will not be allowed to attend so make sure your student is practicing his/her solo/ensemble!

  • Your final NY Trip payment is due to Thomas Tours by Monday, February 5th! All balances should be paid in full at that time.

  • We have a Pep Band Game next Tuesday night (February 6th) vs. TCA. Students will have to be dressed in GC attire and in their seats at 5:15 for the game. This is a MANDATORY performance grade for ALL concert band members!

  • The All-West Honor Band Clinic is NEXT THURSDAY-SATURDAY! Students will leave at 8:30 on that Thursday. Students will need breakfast items for the hotel room and money for 4 meals. Concert attire (black/white) will be worn on that Saturday for the concerts.

  • Don't forget the FINAL DOCUMENTS MEETING for the NY Trip is on Monday, March 5th @ 6:00 pm in the library! EVERYONE (both parents and students) need to make plans to be there!
