Announcements:
Thanks to all those who got out and presold tickets for the Preview Show this Thursday! You guys presold over 300 tickets for the show!!! Each person that you sold a ticket to will need to check in at the check-in table (located at the south gate) on Thursday under your student's name. Food will be ready to be picked up at the concession stand window at 5:30 so plan to arrive early to drive a dodge, get your food, and get a good seat for the preview show! We will order a little extra food but no one is guaranteed food unless they purchase an advanced ticket!
The 2nd memorization test for the semester will be TOMORROW over Part #2 (measures J-O) during band class time! All students will be expected to play the entire song from beginning to end MEMORIZED in order to perform at the Preview Show on Thursday! The Part #1 Memorization grades have been posted on PowerSchool if you have access and students have seen their grades posted on the office window by their assigned number.
We hope to have a FULL HOUSE on Thursday night to see the first public performance of our Fall 2016 Show: "Celestial Journey"! Be sure and invite your friends, family, and neighbors to come out for preview night/dodge drive THIS THURSDAY NIGHT! These kids have been working extremely hard and would love to have a sold out crowd for the performance on Thursday.
Breaded Braid Sales began last week! Each student is asked to sell at least 5 loaves of braided bread or get $30 in donations. Orders + money are due THIS FRIDAY! Extra forms are available on the band room table if you need one.
POLOS WILL BE IN THIS WEEK! Be sure your student has paid his/her $15 in order to receive his/her polo for the preview show on Thursday!
The Dodge Booster Drive starts at 5:00 on Thursday out in front of the high school. Each person that shows up to drive will earn the band $20!!! We are asking that everyone park on the south end of the stadium (closest to the field house) and enter the stadium from the south gate (field house side). Please no one PARK in the parking places located directly in front of the school so that we have enough room for the Dodge drive. The drive will last until 8:00 pm or until we have at least 150 people drive so please invite people to come drive! This is easy money for the band!
The band will have regular rehearsal on Thursday (until 5:00). Students will then have until 6:15 to cool off and change clothes for the Preview Show. The attire for the evening will be polos (TUCKED IN), khaki shorts, and tennis shoes. This will be the first performance grade for the students which is 33% of the student's grade for the nine weeks. Each high school band member will eat for FREE immediately following the show. After everything is cleaned up students will be allowed to leave.
We will need plenty of hands to help on Thursday night at the Preview Show. If you can help please contact Jennifer Lowrance at JenniferPLowrance@Eaton.com.
Our first home FB game will be THIS FRIDAY NIGHT against Zion Christian Academy @ 7:00! Students will be expected to be dressed in the same attire as they will be on Thursday night and in their seats in the band room at 6:00. Students have certain rules that they have to follow at FB games and competitions (food in stands, drinks, talking to friends, etc.) so please check with your student as to what those rules are so that you are informed as well. They will be getting these rules verbally from their section leaders this week.
Continue to pay for marching shoes ($36/band; $33/guard)! These should be in by the end of the month and only those students who have paid for them will receive them!
The next band fee payment will be due by Thursday, September 1st ($30). Make every effort to pay this payment ON TIME so that the band can take care of all of its bills that are due on the 1st.
Our contest that we host at GC is a little over a month away on Saturday, October 1st! The is a HUGE day for our band program and we WILL NEED your help on that Saturday so make plans to be on campus that day. It takes EVERYONE to host our invitational. If you have not signed up to help with the contest yet please contact Kim Todd at dokitodd@live.com and she will get you plugged in somewhere.
