The GC Band Program lost a dear friend, supporter, and teacher this past Friday. Mr. Mike Congiardo was in a tragic car crash this past Friday after leaving his school following Concert Festival. Mr. Congiardo was the band director at GC in the mid to late 90s. During his time as Director at GC the band marched in the Fiesta Bowl Parade, played for the inauguration of President Clinton, and won the 1st State Championship in 1997. He has continued his support of the program by being a part of the band camp staff since he left as director in the 90s. His infectious laugh and true love for music will be missed here at GC. Band Camp will not be the same around here without him. His funeral arrangements are: Visitation - Today - 5:30-7:30 - Shackelford Funeral Home - Selmer; Graveside Service - Tomorrow - 10 am - Eastview Cemetery off Hwy 57. The GC Band will be sending a memorial in his name to his current band program (Madison Academic HS Band). Please continue to keep his band students, family, and friends in your prayers for the difficult days to come. JT

Each bus will have a captain who will be in charge of the movies. ALL MOVIES must be PG13 rating or better. If language gets bad we will turn the movie off immediately. With two 18 hour bus rides, each bus will want to bring ~20 movies...start digging through your DVD collection! Students will have restrictions on their bathing suits while at Blizzard Beach. If girls wear a 2-piece suit, they MUST HAVE A TSHIRT OVER IT. Please remember to look over the document put together by Melinda Wylie (sent out last week and includes great tips for the trip!).
