Rehearsal Schedule for the week:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday - NO REHEARSALS!

  • Tuesday & Thursday - Full Band (3-5)

Announcements:

  • School starts back TOMORROW! I hope everyone has gotten a copy of his/her schedule and are ready for a great year!

  • All "post-camp" rehearsals WERE MANDATORY! Any student who has missed a post-camp rehearsal for an unexcused reason will have to make up his/her time BEFORE they will be allowed to perform at Preview Night, a football game, or a competition! All time to be made up has to be arranged around the directors' schedules.

  • All Percussion Fees ($85) or 4 shirt sponsors ($100) were due this past Tueday night! If you did not turn yours in on Tuesday get it turned in ASAP!

  • Trailer Sponsors are due NOW! Last call.

  • We will take pictures for the newspapers THIS FRIDAY (7th) during band class time (1:30-3:00). All students will wear his/her uniform (except guard) for the pictures. Even though the band will wear uniforms for the pictures band shoes are not needed as the pictures do not show the band's feet.

  • If you are a parent of an 8th grader who marches with the high school band and want them included in these pictures you will need to check your student out of their school and make sure that they are at the high school no later than 1:30 pm to be included in the pictures. This is not mandatory but an option that you have as a parent.

  • Rehearsal attendance is worth 33% of a student's grade for the nine week. Any unexcused absence will reduce a student's grade by 10 points. Remember according to the handbook if any student misses 2 rehearsals unexcused he/she will loose his/her spot in the competitive marching band. If a student is absent for an excused reason he/she MUST attend at least 2 out of the 3 "run throughs" for the week in order to march that weekend at the football game or the contest. WE NEED EVERY STUDENT AT EVERY REHEARSAL IF AT ALL POSSIBLE! It's very difficult to work on the show when people are missing. Remember to make all non-emergent doctor's appointments on non-rehearsal days!

  • The first memorization test over "Part I" will be NEXT MONDAY during band class! The memorization grade makes up 34% of a student's grade for the nine weeks and they will NOT march at Preview Night until this has been played and passed!

  • The next band booster's meeting will be NEXT MONDAY NIGHT @ 7:00 pm in the band room! We already have 18 bands signed up (25 is our cap) for our contest and this and September's meetings are the only meetings between now and the contest so please make every effort to attend as we plan this event. It's takes EVERYONE to make this event happen.

  • All Merchandise Orders + Money are due on or before FRIDAY, AUGUST 14TH! No extras will be ordered and no orders will be processed without full advanced payment so be sure and get your orders in by next Monday!

  • Continue paying for polos ($15), marching shoes ($36) and guard shoes ($34. Students will need polos in 2 weeks for the preview night show and all football games in late August/early September. No student will receive his/her polo and/or marching shoes until full payment has been made.

  • Guard shoes are a part of the "new" guard members' guard fee but this is an additional cost to the guard fee if your student has been in the guard in the past.

  • Preview Night is August 20th @ 6:30 in the stadium! Tickets are $5 for a hamburger/hot dog, chips, dessert, and drink meal and will go on sale soon! Stay tuned for more information.

  • Our Dodge Booster Drive is August 20th from 5-8 in front of the school! Invite everyone you know to come out and test drive a Dodge. The band receives $20 for every person who shows up and test drives a Dodge.

  • The Football Team pays for a portion of the band's busses and provides the drivers for the band to travel to away football games. I have been informed by our athletic director (David Brewer) that the band will be attending ONLY the following away football games this year due to limited seating at other stadiums so please mark your calendars accordingly:

    • September 11th @ Fulton City

    • October 9th @ Adamsville

    • October 16th @ Trinity

Upcoming Dates:

    • Regular Rehearsal Schedule starts next week (week of 10th):

        • Monday - Guard Sectionals (3-5); Percussion Sectionals (5-8)

        • Tuesday - Full Band (3-5); Hornline Sectionals (5-6)

        • Thursday - Full Band (3-5)

    • Monday, August 17th - 2nd Memorization Test over the ballad during band class time. Regular rehearsal schedule for the week.

    • Monday, August 17th - Braided Bread Fundraiser BEGINS!

    • Thursday, August 20th - Preview Night - 6:30 - Stadium - Students will have regular rehearsal until 5 and then they will have from 5-6 to rest before reporting back for preview night. They will wear their polos, khaki shorts, and tennis shoes that night so be sure you have paid for your polo by then! High School Band Students will eat for FREE immediately following the performance.

    • Friday, August 21st - 1st Football Game @ Zion Christian Academy - We will NOT travel to this game!
