Rehearsal Schedule for the Week:
Monday - Guard Sectional (3-5); Percussion Sectional (5-8)
Tuesday - Full Band (3-5); Hornline Sectionals (5-6)
Thursday - Full Band (3-5)
PLEASE NOTE: ALL REHEARSALS ARE MANDATORY! Please schedule all non-emergent appointments on NON-REHEARSAL days! Missing rehearsal(s) will effect your student's grade in band and could jeopardize his/her spot in the show for the fall! Make every effort to make sure your student doesn't miss a rehearsal all season!
Announcements:
The first MEMORIZATION TEST for the semester over intro/part I (measures beginning to letter G) is MONDAY!!! Each student will test MONDAY during class or sectional time for the guard and battery/front ensemble. If a student does not play from the beginning to the end COMPLETELY MEMORIZED or is he/she makes a failing grade he/she will have until THIS THURSDAY @ 5:00 pm to make up the grade. The student will not march at a public performance until he/she plays each test successfully so encourage your student to practice!
Band Booster Meeting THIS MONDAY NIGHT @ 7 in the band room! Come be a part as we start planning for upcoming fundraisers/events (preview night, contest, etc.)!
Preview Night Tickets will go on sale THIS WEEK for $5/each! Each high school band student will eat for FREE! Each student will be asked to sale at least 5 tickets for the Preview Night. A ticket RSVP will be sent home and emailed out this week. Contact Wendy Tate or attend the meeting MONDAY NIGHT if you can help with this event.
Polos will be in soon! Be sure if your student ordered a polo they MUST be paid in advance for he/she will receive their polo. They are $15!
ALL GUARD members should be paying $34 for guard shoes for the fall. This amount is included in the "new" guard girls guard fee. This amount is separate for any "old" guard member.
Continue to pay for marching shoes ($36). They should be in toward the end of the month. Students will not receive his/her shoes until they are paid in full.
All merchandise orders + money are due NEXT FRIDAY (14th)! Place the order form along with the money in an envelope and write your student's name and "merchandise order" on the envelope. Remember do NOT order your student's polo or free theme shirt that he/she ordered at camp on your merchandise order form! This form is ONLY for additional items. Very few extras will be ordered so get your orders and money in by NEXT FRIDAY!
We will have our second memorization test NEXT MONDAY (17th) over the Part II measures (G-P).
We begin our Braided Bread Fundraiser NEXT MONDAY (17th)! Each student is asked to sell at least 5 loaves or get $30 in donations. All orders and money are due no later than Friday, August 28th!
Preview Night will be THURSDAY, August 20th @ 6:30 in the stadium. We will begin the evening with a performance of the 2015 Show "Reflections" followed by a $5 hamburger/hot dog dinner (ticket purchased in advance is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED so we make sure we have enough food)! Invite your friends and family out to this event. Students will wear polos, khaki shorts, and tennis shoes for this event.
Our annual "Dodge Booster Drive" will be THURSDAY, August 20th from 5-8 pm in front of the school. The band receives $20 for each person over 18 who test drives a Dodge so invite folks to the Dodge Drive and the Preview Show!
The first football game for the Fall 2015 Season will be on Friday, August 21st @ Zion Christian Academy. The band will NOT travel to this game!
Remember all performances are MANDATORY unless a student has a doctor's note, death in the family, accident coming to school, etc. Performances are 33% of a student's grade for the nine weeks!
