Announcements for the week:
Thanks to everyone who traveled to Fulton City on Friday or to UT Martin on Saturday! It always makes for a great performance when we have a great crowd like you guys to perform to! A special thanks to all of chaperones and pit crew members! The kids did a GREAT JOB especially on Saturday!
Thanks to all the band moms who came to get everyone fitted for his/her uniforms this past Tuesday! The band looked GREAT this past weekend because of your help!
We will begin selling Boston Butts THIS WEEK! The butts will be available for pick up the morning of our competition (October 3rd). Each butt will be $35 which contains 6-8 lbs. of BBQ. If you've never had one then you're really missing out. If you're helping out with the contest that day they are still good reheated or even frozen. Each student will be asked to sell at least 2 butts. Order forms and order deadline will be sent home this week.
Our last Band Booster Meeting before our own contest (GCMI) will be TOMORROW NIGHT @ 7:00 PM in the band room! It takes everyone to pull off our contest at GC. Please make every effort to attend the meeting TOMORROW NIGHT! If you are unable to attend and still want to be plugged in somewhere at the contest contact Kim Todd before the meeting at dokitodd@live.com and she will get you plugged in at the contest in some capacity.
Braided Breads comes in THIS WEDNESDAY! Orders will be sent home with your student at the end of the school day on Wednesday. The bread needs to be put in a freezer as soon as possible so please communicate this to your student if you will not be home when they get home with the bread from school.
This is homecoming week at Gibson County. There are dress up days each day. If your student dresses up they must still have all proper clothing for rehearsals and class time.
There is a Bonfire Pep Rally on Thursday night immediately following the Championship PowderPuff Game! We will play at this event. I will get you more information on times as soon as I have it. The attire for the night will be GC colors.
Friday night is the HOMECOMING GAME against Fulton Co. @ 7:00 pm! Homecoming activities will begin at 6:30 in which the band plays so students will have to be dressed in FULL UNIFORM and in their seats @ 5:30 so I highly suggest students get there early (~5:00) so they have enough time to get into uniform before roll call happens at 5:30.
Saturday is the Union City Contest! We will meet at 10:15am for immediate departure to Union City. This is a prelims/finals show in which the top 10 scoring bands advance to finals. We perform at 2:15 in the preliminary competition. See the attached itinerary for exact details. The students will need money for lunch at the concession stands and the boosters will provide dinner for the students at the busses immediately following the preliminary competition. Full contest information including admission pricing can be found at
http://www.unioncitybands.com/invitational-info.html. Ride home forms (see attached) for Saturday are due NO LATER THAN FRIDAY @ 3:00 PM! I hope many of you make the short drive up to Union City to help cheer on these great kids!
Continue to bring your student's drinks (2-12 pack of cans - PEPSI PRODUCTS ONLY!) for our competition. Place them under the band room table with your child's name on them. The last day to bring your drinks for our competition is Monday, September 28th! By bringing in drinks we profit more on the competition so we can provide more things for your student! Please do your part and bring in your drinks.
