Rehearsal Schedule for the week:


  • Monday - Jazz Band - 3:15-4:30 - Theater
  • Tuesday - Brass Ensemble - 3:15-??? - Theater - Brief rehearsal to go through the tune and fix any problem spots.
  • Wednesday - Woodwind Ensemble/Low Brass Ensemble - 3:15-4:30 - Band Room/Theater
  • Thursday - Pops Concert - 6:30 - Theater - Students must be in their seats on stage at 5:45.

Announcements:
  • A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS! to Autumn Locke on getting 3rd chair at the prestigious All-State Honor Band Clinic held this past Wednesday-Friday!  This is the first freshmen in my 12 years at GC that has made All-State and she has the highest chair placement out of any student in my tenure that has made All-State as well!  Great job Autumn!  We are all proud of you!
  • Thanks to all those who did their part in the selling of the Cake Rolls.  You guys sold over 200 rolls!!!  We can still take orders tomorrow if you forgot to bring them on Friday.  Tomorrow is the absolute last day to turn in orders!  Orders will be delivered on May 8th.
  • ALL LETTERING CREDIT IS DUE TO ME NO LATER THAN THIS TUESDAY IN ORDER FOR A STUDENT TO LETTER IN BAND THIS SCHOOL YEAR!
  • Fall 2018 Guard Audition Clinics will continue TOMORROW from 3:30 until 5 in the main gym.  Each student who is auditioning should have paid the $40 (CASH ONLY!) audition fee that was due at last week's clinic.  If not, take care of this ASAP!  
  • Fall 2018 Drum Major Auditions will take place THIS TUESDAY at 3:30 in the band room.  Good Luck to all 4 that are auditioning!
  • The Final Fall 2018 Percussion Audition Clinic will take place this Tuesday night from 5-8 in the band room!  Any student wishing to play in the front ensemble or the battery for the Fall 2018 season MUST ATTEND these clinics.  Talk with Tico ASAP if there are questions or conflicts.  He MUST know if your student is not going to be at a clinic or they will NOT be on the line for the fall!
  • Our annual "Pops Concert" will be held THIS THURSDAY @ 6:30 in the theater!  The concert is FREE and open to the public so invite your friends, family, and neighbors out for a great night of music by the jazz band, concert band, and brass ensemble of Gibson County!  Students have to be dressed in concert attire (NO TSHIRTS, JEANS, SHORTS, TENNIS SHOES) @ 5:45 in the theater.  It's going to be an AWESOME CONCERT so let's fill up the theater for this night of great music by our students!  All equipment will have to be moved back to the band room immediately following the concert BEFORE any student will be dismissed.
  • Any upcoming junior or senior band member who is interested in a leadership position in next year's band should attend a brief meeting NEXT MONDAY AFTERNOON in the band room @ 3:05!
  • Band Banquet tickets go on sale NEXT MONDAY for $12/person!  Each band student is admitted for FREE but they must RSVP with me.  Each 8th grader-junior can purchase up to two additional tickets.  Seniors can purchase up to 3 additional tickets.  You will not receive an actual ticket but rather a list will be made by Rhonda Upchurch/Andie Watson who will then check you in with that list at the door at the banquet.  The banquet will be held at First Baptist Church in Dyer on May 11th @ 6:30 pm.  NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR!  The last day to buy at ticket will be Friday, May 4th so we can give the caterer a definite number.  Send your money in envelope marked with your student's name along with how many tickets that you are purchasing.
  • A list of Memory Book balances will also be sent out at some point in the next week or so.  All Memory Book balances must be paid by May 4th in order for your student to receive his/her Memory Book at the Band Banquet on the 11th!

Upcoming Dates:
  • Monday, April 23rd - Memorization Test over the parade band tune.  Non concert band members will test on Tuesday, May 1st.  This is worth 34% of your student's grade for the nine weeks so make sure they practice and memorize their music.  If they do not memorize the music they will NOT march in either parade and will FAIL band for the nine weeks!  Practice, practice practice!
  • Monday, April 23rd - Jazz Band (3:15-4:30); Guard Clinic #6 (3:30-5:00)
  • Tuesday, April 24th - After school rehearsal for all non-concert band members and guard members from 3:15-5:00.  Attendance is MANDATORY for those not in concert band wishing to attend the band banquet.
  • Thursday, April 26th - Full Band Parade Rehearsal (3-5) - Attendance is MANDATORY!
  • May 1st & 3rd - Full Band Parade Rehearsals (3-5) - Attendance is MANDATORY!
  • Tuesday, May 1st - Porch Swingin' Event - Time:  TBA - Rutherford Log Cabin - It should be a great FREE night of music!  I hope all of you will make plans to attend.
  • Tuesday, May 1st- Memorization Test over Amazing Grace for Concert Band Members.  Non Concert Band members will play off both parade band tunes that day as well.
  • Friday, May 4th - Band Banquet ticket $$$/Memory Book Balances are due!
  • Saturday, May 5th - Teapot Parade - Trenton, TN - 10 am - Students MUST be at the Peabody Place Apartments (across from Trenton Elementary) dressed in full uniform at 9:15.  I will be in the band room from 8:30-9 and for ~30 minutes after the parade for anyone who needs to pick-up/drop-off any equipment.
  • Monday, May 7th - Fall 2018 Color Guard Auditions (3:30 until we're done) - Main Gym - There will be a MANDATORY parent meeting immediately following the auditions for any student's parent who makes the Fall 2018 Guard in the library.
  • May 8th & 10th - Full Band Rehearsals (3-5)
  • Friday, May 11th - Strawberry Festival - 10:00 - Humboldt - We will meet at 8:00 am in the band room for immediate departure to Humboldt. 
  • Friday, May 11th - Band Banquet - 6:30 - First Baptist Church - Dyer, TN. Advanced ticket REQUIRED!
  • Friday, May 18th - Graduation - 6:00 pm - Bo Booth Gymnasium - All non graduating concert band members MUST be in their seats in concert attire no later than 5:15!
