  • Those students who are trying out for All-West in January start their lessons with me THIS WEEK! Lessons are on Tuesday and Thursday of this week depending on the time the student signed up for. Students MUST complete 4 successful lessons in order audition for All-West in January. If a student misses a lesson he/she must make up that lesson.

  • We will take a full band picture and guard will take their individual pictures on Tuesday during 4th block band class time.

  • A debt list from this past fall was posted this past week on the band office window. I have attached a copy of it to this email. If you paid a debt last week it may not be reflected on the debt list. All debts must be paid by Friday, December 16th (Christmas Break) or they will be turned in to the office for collection. As of this past Friday the band had ~$5000 in outstanding debt. Please make every effort to pay your debts in a timely manner so the band boosters can pay their bills on time. Seniors who do not pay their debts off by graduation will not receive his/her diploma. Freshmen-Juniors will NOT be allowed to attend the first June rehearsal until all debt from previous years has been paid in full. We can always make mistakes so if you have any questions please contact me or Rhonda Upchurch at rhondaup@gmail.com.

  • The County Wide Band Christmas Concert will be held NEXT SUNDAY (11th) in the theatre at GC. The concerts begin at 2:00 pm with the 6th grade combined bands, 2:20 middle school band #1, 2:40 middle school band #2 (not sure their order), followed by the high school band at 3:00. Please reserve seating for ONLY parents/family/friends of students who are on stage performing at the above given times so that everyone has a chance to see their child perform. All high school students MUST be in the band room at 1:15 in "Sunday-like" attire. This means NO JEANS, TSHIRTS, SHORTS, TENNIS SHOES, ETC. This is a MANDATORY PERFORMANCE grade for all high school band members! High school students will have to move all equipment back to the band room at the conclusion of the concerts before they will be dismissed. I hope that many of you will make it out to support the bands of Gibson County on Sunday!

  • There will be a brief band booster meeting immediately following the high school concert in the theatre. I hope that many of you will stay and be a part as your student is moving equipment back to the band room.

  • The band FINAL EXAM begins NEXT MONDAY! This is worth 20% of your student's grade for the entire semester! Be sure they are prepared!

  • All spring ensembles are set at this point. Any person wishing to add/drop from a spring ensemble will need to see me as we have started to order/purchase music for these ensembles based on the instrumentation that signed up.

  • We still have a few fruit items and several bags of nuts available for anyone who is interested! See my email from Friday as to what is still available. First come first served.

  • Details concerning the St. Louis Cardinals game in May and the 4-year trip planned for the Spring of 2018 are COMING SOON! Stay tuned.
