THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU are not enough in words to tell you how grateful that Mr. Tate and the band staff are for each of you who helped out in anyway with our invitational yesterday! It was a great representation of the "Pioneer Spirit" and how we do it at Gibson County! There were many compliments from band directors, parents, and spectators about how we run our contest! One band director told Mr. Brockman he's not sure how we do it but this is how you run a contest! MANY MANY THANKS TO EACH OF YOU!
We are on a different rehearsal schedule this week due to Fall Break!
Midterm Exams are this week! 1st and 3rd block exams are on Tuesday. 2nd and 4th block exams are on Wednesday. We do NOT have an exam in band. These exams are worth 20% of your students grade for nine weeks. Be sure they are studying and are prepared for each of their exams!
Parent/Teacher Conference is this Wednesday (3:15-6:00) and Thursday (8-11:15). It's a great time for you as the parent to sit down with each of your child's teachers to see their progress in each of their classes. It's also a great time to find ways that they can improve. Due to rehearsal, Mr. Tate will unavailable for Parent/Teacher Conference until 5:30 on Wednesday. He holds all of his conferences in his Science Room down the main hallway in room 221.
8th Grade Night is THIS THURSDAY as the Pioneers play Peabody at 7:30! This is our chance to start the recruiting process of our 8th graders for high school band. All students will need to be dressed (full uniform) at 5:30 in the band room. We will then travel down to the practice field to practice the National Anthem with the 8th graders. The 8th graders will perform the National Anthem with us before the game and will play all pep band tunes in the stand with us during the 1st half of the game.
On Friday there is no school/no rehearsals/no football game! Enjoy your time off!
On Saturday we have the Davy Crockett Parade and the Union City Marching Invitational. We will meet at 12:30 for immediate departure to Rutherford for the parade. We will then leave there and head straight to Union City for the contest. See the attached itinerary for exact details. There are 9 bands in competition. We will have 2 bands (Peabody & Adamsville) there that we will compete against at state. The contest begins at 6:00 pm. Ride Home Forms are due by 5:30 on Thursday! NO EXCEPTIONS!
If you were unable to make your band fee payment this past week, please take care of this as soon as possible. Unless payment arrangements have been made, this is now considered a debt.

Thursday, October 16th - Full Band (3-5)
Friday, October 17th - FB @ South Fulton - We will meet at 4:30 or 5 depending on game time for immediate departure to South Fulton
Saturday, October 18th - Contest @ South Gibson - We perform at 7:30 - We will meet some time that afternoon for rehearsal.
