Rehearsal Schedule for the week:
Monday - Guard Sectional (3-5); Full Brass Sectional (3:15-4:30); Percussion Sectional (5-8)
Tuesday - Full Band (3-5); Woodwind Sectionals (5-6)
Thursday - Full Band (3-5); Parent/Teacher Conference (4-7 pm)
Friday - NO SCHOOL! Parent/Teacher Conference (8-11 am). FB @ Oakhaven - The band will NOT travel to this game!
Saturday - NO CONTEST! Enjoy your day off!
Announcements for the week:
Thanks to everyone who came out the homecoming game on Friday or traveled up the Union City Contest on Saturday! The kids had a great run in finals on Saturday night and got a lot great comments from the judges on things to work on in the coming days/weeks!
A special thanks to Jennifer Lowrance and all those who helped her feed the kids yesterday or helped by donating food to feed the kids! I know the kids sure did appreciate it!
TROPHY SPONSORS ARE DUE THIS TUESDAY FOR OUR COMPETITION! If you have a business or work for a business encourage them to sponsor a trophy for our competition! I have attached the trophy sponsorship form. Due to the printing of the program for the contest, we MUST have this information to the printers no later than Tuesday!!! Contact Rhonda Upchurch for any questions or additional information. Thanks to all those who have already gotten or are in the process of getting sponsors for the contest!
Boston Butts orders + money are due THIS THURSDAY! Students are asked to sell at least 2 butts or get $30 in donations. Orders will need to be picked up at ~8am on the day of our contest (October 1st).
DRINKS FOR OUR COMPETITION ARE DUE THIS THURSDAY! Each student is asked to bring at least 2-12 packs of Pepsi products depending on your students grade level. Be sure their names are on the drinks and they are placed under the table in the band room. Thanks to all those who have already brought in your drinks!
Parent/Teacher Conference is this Thursday (4:00-7:00) and Friday (8:00-11:00)! I highly encourage each of you to make time to go and talk with your child's teachers so you can see how they are doing in their classes. Be involved in your student's education! Because of rehearsal on Thursday I will be unavailable for conference until after 5:00. I will be conducting my conference in my science room (221) if you need to come speak with me but for the most part I see most of you at games and competitions so if I had a problem with your child you would have had a conversation with me by now but you are still more than welcome to stop by and see me if you wish.
This Friday there is NO SCHOOL! because of parent/teacher conference.
Friday night is a FB game @ Oakhaven! The band will NOT travel to this game! Enjoy your night off and GOOD LUCK TO OUR PIONEER FOOTBALL TEAM!
This Saturday there is no contest! Enjoy your Saturday off!
Our contest at Gibson County is less than two weeks away! We are still in need of a lot of help. If you have not already volunteered and would like to help in any capacity at the competition please contact Kim Todd and she will get you plugged in.
Our competition is our largest fundraiser of the year. Students will be asked to be at the high school around 8:00 am the day of the competition. They will not be released to leave until 11 or 12 that night. Students will be dressed during the day in their black polos, khaki shorts or pants, and tennis shoes. They will need everything to perform at the end of the preliminary competition in full uniform. The boosters will feed them pizza after prelims. It's a full day and it takes EVERYONE to pull it off! I have attached a copy of the schedule for the day so you what's going on if you're with a band helping out.
ATTN SENIORS AND SENIOR PARENTS: The deadline for senior state scholarships is OCTOBER 1ST! They must be postmarked by this day! There is a lot of FREE money to be had here so I highly encourage each senior to advantage of this great opportunity!
WE STILL HAVE PLENTY OF UMBRELLAS LEFT! EACH STUDENT IS ASKED TO SELL AT LEAST 1 UMBRELLA ($25). HAVE YOUR STUDENT BRING HIS/HER MONEY AND HE/SHE WILL RECEIVE THE UMBRELLA! We need everyone to do his/her part to make this a successful fundraiser!
Upcoming Dates:
Friday, September 30th - FB vs. Halls (Home) @ 7:00 - Students will need to be dressed in full uniform and in their seats @ 6:00!
Saturday, October 1st - GCMI!!!! We need your help all day!
Friday, October 7th - NO FOOTBALL GAME!
Saturday, October 8th - Davy Crockett Parade (2:00 pm) - We will meet in Rutherford at 1:15 in polos/khaki shorts or pants/tennis shoes. We will not take buses to this event!
