Announcements
The second memorization test for the semester will be TOMORROW over Part 2 (Ballad, Drum Break and Dream On) during band class! All students will be expected to play the entire song from beginning to end MEMORIZED in order to perform at the Preview Show on Thursday! The Part 1 Memorization grades are posted on grade portal if you have access. Students have seen their grades posted on the office window (posted by their assigned number for confidentiality).
Preview Night Tickets and Money are due TOMORROW! Each student was asked to sell at least 5 tickets for the show. Each person you sold a ticket to needs to sign in at the check-in table on Thursday night-check in under your student's name. We will order some extra food but no one is guaranteed food unless they have purchased an advance ticket.
POLOS WILL BE IN THIS WEEK! Be sure your student has paid his/her $15 in order to receive his/her polo for the show on Thursday!
The high school will host an Open House Thursday from 4:30-6:30 which will give you a chance to meet all of your child's teachers.
The Dodge Booster Drive begins at 5 p.m. Thursday in front of the high school. Each person who drives will earn the band $20!!! Each student in the band who has at least 10 people drive will receive $10 in cash. The student who has the most people drive for them will receive a $50 cash prize! We are asking that NO ONE PARK in the parking places located directly in front of the school so we have enough room for the Dodge Drive. The drive will last until 8 p.m. or until we have at least 250 people drive. PLEASE INVITE PEOPLE TO COME DRIVE! This is easy money for our program!
The band will have regular rehearsal on Thursday(3-5). Students will have from 5-6:15 to cool off and change clothes for the Preview Show. The attire for the evening will be POLOS (TUCKED IN), KHAKI SHORTS AND TENNIS SHOES. PLEASE DON'T WEAR THIS OUTFIT TO SCHOOL/PRACTICE so that it will be fresh and clean for the performance. This will be the first performance grade for the students which is 33% of the student's grade for the nine weeks.
Each high school band member will eat FREE immediately following the show. After everything is cleaned students will be allowed to leave. Mr. Tate will dismiss.

FOR PREVIEW NIGHT-Freshmen bring bags of individual chips; Sophomores bring Little Debbie cakes; Junior and Seniors bring a case/fridge pack of canned Pepsi products.
Continue to pay for marching shoes ($28/guard, $34/band). These should be in by the end of the month and only those students who have paid for them will receive them.
The next band fee payment will be due by September 1 ($30). Since the 1st is a Saturday, you will need to turn in your payments in Friday, August 30.
The contest we will host October 5 is COMPLETELY FULL!! We will need your help on that Saturday. It takes EVERYONE to host our invitational. If yo have not signed up to help, please contact Kim Todd @dokitodd@hotmail.com and she will get you plugged in somewhere.
NOTE-OCTOBER 26-We have the Crockett Marching Invitational scheduled for that evening. If possible, we are working to schedule another contest for that morning so please keep that open on your schedules.

Next Friday (August 30th) we have our first away football game at Scotts Hill. We will meet for immediate departure @ 4:30. The attire for the evening will be polos, khaki shorts, and tennis shoes. If you are going to the game and want your child to ride home with you, you MUST fill out a ride home form and have it turned in to the band office by NEXT THURSDAY @ 5:00. NO EXCEPTIONS! You must fill out a ride home form for each event and you can not fill out a blanket ride home form for the entire year and please do not turn these until the week of the event for logistical purposes. See the website under forms to find the ride home form! This is a 2 hour bus ride so expect a late arrival back at GC that night
