Here's hoping everyone enjoyed their ICE vacation!
With losing a week of rehearsal due to the ice, we need to make sure that EVERY student knows EVERY section of his/her music so that we're able to pull off our concert NEXT THURSDAY NIGHT! Make sure your student is practicing!
Attached is a list of students who as of last Friday (13th) still owe a debt from the fall. The list is alphabetized by grade. Mr. Tate shared this list with the students in December and once again the week before last. If you have any questions as to the amount or what the debt is for please don't hesitate to email him. Remember any student who does not pay his/her debt will not receive a report card, diploma, and will not be able to attend the June rehearsals until the debt is paid in full. This rule comes from the administration.
Due to the bad weather, our annual stew fundraiser has been moved to Saturday, March 14th! The times are the same. You can send your items to the school as you would like as long as they're not perishable. Contact Wendy Tate with any questions that you may have.
We have an after school rehearsal scheduled for NEXT TUESDAY(3rd) from 3-5:00 in the theatre. This rehearsal is MANDATORY for all concert band members!
Our Classical Concert will be held NEXT THURSDAY NIGHT @ 6:30in the theatre! Students will have to be there at 5:45 dressed in concert attire (NO JEANS, TSHIRTS, SHORTS, TENNIS SHOES, ETC.). You will hear selections from both the concert and jazz bands. The concert is free and open to the public so invite family and friends to attend a great night of music!
NEXT SATURDAY (7th) is Solo/Ensemble Festival @ North Side in Jackson! We are still awaiting performance times but students can ride a bus from GC or provide his/her own transportation to Jackson. We will begin listening to students NEXT WEEK and if we don't think they are prepared then we will NOT allow them to attend the festival so make sure your student is practicing his/her music!
The contest DATES (NOT THE CONTESTS) are pretty well set for the fall and you can see those dates on the calendar on the band's website (http://gchsmarchingpioneers.org) so you can plan accordingly!

Tuesday, March 3rd - Concert Band After School Rehearsal - 3:15-5:00 - Theatre
Thursday, March 5th - Classical Concert - 6:30 - Theatre - FREE!
Saturday, March 7th - Solo/Ensemble - Jackson North Side - Time: TBA
Monday, March 9th - Fall 2015 Color Guard Audition Clinics BEGIN - 3:30-5:00 - Main Gym - See attached flyer - Information regarding the auditions will be available in the office/band room this week at the high school. Mr. Brockman/Ms. Evans will have information at the middle schools for the middle schoolers who are interested. Be sure if you know of anyone in grades 8-11 in our side of the district who is interested in getting involved that you share this information with them!
Saturday, March 14th - Stew Fundraiser - Central Fire Station - 10-1 - We will need students to attend!
