Tuesday - Low Brass Ens. 3:00-3:45
Wednesday - 3:15-4:30 Sax Ensemble
We have a ton of music we are playing this semester, and it is not easy music. I encourage you to take the time to practice at home and make yourself better. Parents, please make sure your student is practicing their concert music. 15-30 minutes a night is what is needed. We look to have an exciting concert but we need everyone to do their work outside of class. Practice is band’s homework, just like any other class. It should be 60% practice and 40% rehearsal.
Solo and Ensemble money was due two weeks ago!!! If you have not paid before Friday you will not be able to attend but will still be responsible for the $$$$.
Solo and ensemble work is done outside of class time. This week we will start listening to students. You must play for myself, Mr. Leslie, or Mr. Tate 2 times and be given a 1 or a 2 from us to be able to attend.
Solo and Ensemble THIS SATURDAY!!!! Our window to play opens at 10 am and will run until 12pm. We are not taking a bus. This is at South Gibson County High School.
This Friday, March 1st, we will have Dr. Derek Jones in to work with the band on our concert festival music. It is very important that everyone is at rehearsals.
Our concert that was scheduled on the 10th has been changed. We will be moving it to the 17th, this is the same day as the middle school concert. We will perform after they do. This will work a lot like the Christmas concert.
For our classical concert and concert festival we will wear ALL BLACK this includes socks and shoes. This has to be solid colors, it can not have stripes or anything on them. If you are out of dress code you will not be able to perform and therefore will receive a 0 for that performance.
Chair challenge papers have been posted at the front of the class. Take a step outside of your comfort zone and challenge the person ahead of you. We all like competition season, this is a way for us to continue that
Fundraisers:
This past weekend we held a pageant, and we were very low on student and parent workers. Our fundraisers are a necessity for our organization to operate and it is EXTREMELY important that everyone participates in these. We are lucky that we do not have to charge what other sports do as fees to operate, but if we continue to have low numbers helping, then we will have to consider either not competing or joining other sports and extra curricular activities in paying over $1,000 in fees to participate.
Below is a google form link for information sheets. Please make sure that if you are currently in band that you fill this out BEFORE Wednesday. We are going to limit this to current band students as to not over fill our emails for announcements and stop getting kick back emails saying the email doesn't exist.
