Announcements:

  • Thanks to all those who lined the streets of Dyer last night for the parade. A lot of supporters were cheering as the band passed by. All uniforms + equipment taken home for the parade are due back TOMORROW!

  • The 5th NYC Trip payment is due TODAY to Thomas Tours!

  • FRUIT/NUTS WILL BE IN THIS WEEK! I still am waiting on a day. As soon as I get one I will pass that information on to you. Whenever the fruit/nuts come in, they will all have to be picked up no later than 5:00 on that day!!! I will need several students to help fill orders and load them in to vehicles. This will be worth 2 community service hours if they stay the entire time.

  • Mr. Congiardo will continue his lessons TUESDAY!

  • Those students who are trying out for All-West in January start their lessons with Mr. Tate THIS WEEK! Lessons are on Tuesday and Thursday of this week depending on the time the student signed up for. If the fruit/nuts happen to come in on a lesson day then the lessons will be moved to the following day (i.e Tuesday lessons will be moved to Wednesday or Thursday lessons will be moved to Friday). Students MUST complete 4 successful lessons in order audition for All-West in January. If a student misses a lesson he/she must make up that lesson.

  • A debt list from this past fall will be posted on the office window this week! All debt MUST be taken care of BEFORE we leave for Christmas Break unless payment arrangements have been made!

  • The County Wide Band Christmas Concert will be held NEXT SUNDAY (10th) in the theater at GC. The concerts begin at 2:00 pm with the 6th grade combined bands, 2:20 middle school band #1, 2:40 middle school band #2 (not sure their order), followed by the high school band at 3:00. Please reserve seating for ONLY parents/family/friends of students who are on stage performing at the above given times so that everyone has a chance to see their child perform. All high school students MUST be in the band room at 1:15 in "Sunday-like" attire. This means NO JEANS, TSHIRTS, SHORTS, TENNIS SHOES, ETC. This is a MANDATORY PERFORMANCE grade for all high school band members! High school students will have to move all equipment back to the band room at the conclusion of the concerts before they will be dismissed. Hopefully all of you will make it out to support the bands of Gibson County on Sunday!

  • There will be a brief band booster meeting immediately following the high school concert in the theatre. Please make plans to stay and be a part of the meeting while your student is moving equipment back to the band room.

  • The band FINAL EXAM begins NEXT MONDAY! This is worth 20% of your student's grade for the entire semester! Be sure they are prepared!

  • All spring ensembles are set at this point. Any person wishing to add/drop from a spring ensemble will need to see Mr. Tate as we have started to order/purchase music for these ensembles based on the instrumentation that signed up and your student will be responsible for any music purchased on his/her behalf if they drop an ensemble at this point. This has been explained to your student multiple times over the last 2 weeks.

  • If your child is not planning to participate in marching band next season please have them let Mr. Tate know ASAP as he begins to plan for the show for next season.

  • As stated in last week's announcements, we will once again offer a memory book (aka band year book) for your student to purchase. Each book is $40. An order form (attached to this email) + $15 deposit are due NEXT FRIDAY (15th) in order to secure one for your student. The balance will be due by the band banquet in May when the books will be distributed. In addition to the book there will be a DVD presentation at the banquet that can be purchased as well for an additional $10 that will accompany the Memory Book. Seniors will receive the DVD at no cost to them!
