· The Percussion Section is hosting a 5K and a Bike Show this Saturday at GCHS. If you are interested in either of these events, see our website @http://gchsmarchingpioneers.org under announcements for the registration forms or you can contact Tico Parson @ mcmworkingman@gmail.com All percussionists are expected to attend unless other arrangements have been made with Tico in advance.
· The first Band Booster meeting for the 2013/14 year is THIS MONDAY NIGHT @ 7 p.m. in the band room! Parents, this is your chance to get involved in the great organization!
· Our first June rehearsal is THIS TUESDAY night from 6-9 p.m. in the band room. This will be an inside music rehearsal only so students can wear comfortable clothing. Students are expected to be in their seats @ 6 p.m. BE ON TIME-COMING IN THE DOOR AT 6 P.M. IS LATE!! Students will need their instrument, music and a pencil (FYI for all new members-Pencils are a staple item for you.). Section leaders should contact each student via text or call. Each student is REQUIRED to be at 2 of the 3 rehearsals in order to secure a spot in the fall show! If a student is going to miss a rehearsal due to a vacation, church camp, etc., they must let their section leader know IN ADVANCE. There is no reason to email Mr. Tate with that information. If a student missed a rehearsal they are responsible for the information that was taught and must contact his/her section leader to be up to date. It is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED that if a student is in town he/she should attend all 3 of the June rehearsals because we will cover a different tune at each rehearsal.
· The first band fee payment of $35 is due at any of the June rehearsals. You can pay as much of the total band fee ($250) as you want at any of the rehearsals. Andie Watson (booster treasurer) will be in the main office before rehearsals collecting payments.
· Guard members will need to begin paying their guard fees. The first fee of $20 is for gloves and must be paid before they are able to receive practice gloves.
· Percussion members will receive information on how to fundraise their percussion fees or you can pay the $85 if you choose not to fundraise.
· All forms MUST BE TURNED IN BY THE END OF JUNE REHEARSALS! Turn these into the band office BEFORE rehearsals. If you have misplaced your forms or did not receive them, you can find them on the website under “Fun and Useful Things”.
· If you would like your name on the back of the band’s trailer, TURN IN A TRAILER SPONSORSHIP FORM with the required fee! This is the yellow form in your summer mail out. These sponsorships are only $50 for the entire year and can be seen wherever the band travels! You can turn in these forms and money to Andie Watson on Tuesday as well. They are DUE NO LATER THAN mid-August in order for us to get them on the trailer before our first away game!
· The Pepsi Fundraiser will be delivered THIS TUESDAY AT THE 1ST JUNE REHEARSAL. More details will be coming as to when/where you will pick up your drinks after we hear back from Pepsi. Be looking for another email with this information in the coming days. If you are not going to be able to pick up your drinks on Tuesday, contact Kim Todd @ dokitodd@live.com to make arrangements to get them at another time.
· We will begin our next fundraiser THIS TUESDAY NIGHT! We will sell flats of peaches fresh from Georgia. They will pick them in Georgia on one day and we will receive them the next so they are truly FRESH! Each student will be asked to sell at least 5 flats or get $25 in donations. All orders and money will be due at the last June rehearsal. For every flat a student sells, he/she will receive $5 toward his/her trip account. Orders will be delivered during the week of full band camp. Order forms will be sent home this Tuesday night. Let’s make this a great fundraiser with each student doing his/her part to kick off this year right!
· We will also send home an order form for Boston Butts Tuesday night. This is an optional fundraiser for those of you or anyone you know who might need BBQ for the 4th! Boston Butts contain anywhere from 6-8 pounds of BBQ and only cost $30. This is a great deal for those who will have family get-togethers on the 4th!!! Orders and money are due at the last June rehearsal. Pick-up will be at the Dyer city Park on July 4th immediately following the parade. The only way to ensure you get to enjoy this great BBQ is to preorder!
· The band’s firework stand opens June 30th. WE NEED WORKERS! Contact Kim Todd @ dokitodd@live.com to sign up for your best time. You can also sign up at the booster meeting. We need all parents to help us out with this!
· If you miss a week of announcements or need other information concerning the band, please visit our website @ http://gchsmarchingpioneers.org Thanks to Zach Baker and Brandon Crews for all of their time and efforts they put into our awesome site!r’s meeting for
