Announcements:

  • GREAT JOB! by all students who were a part of the school's play: "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe"!

  • Three students did not play his/her memorization test over "Jupiter" this past week. I gave them all week to play it if they didn't play it last Monday and they still failed to play it. This means that they will not be allowed to march in either of the upcoming parades. They must still attend the parades to earn their performance grade but they will NOT be allowed to march. All grades have been posted to PowerSchool so you can see if your student has a 0 recorded then this applies to them.

  • Due to the testing schedule tomorrow and the threat of rain the rest of the week, we will NOT test over "Let It Be Me" until Tuesday during class time. Remember this is worth 34% of your student's grade for the nine weeks. Failure to memorize the tune will result in your student NOT being allowed to march with the mass band.

  • Jazz Band will have their final rehearsal for the spring semester TOMORROW from 3:15 until 4:30 in the band room!

  • The FINAL guard clinic before auditions is TOMORROW from 3:30 until 5 in the main gym.

  • Parade Band will practice BOTH TUESDAY & THURSDAY THIS WEEK from 3-5! Students who were NOT in marching band this past fall will need to plan to stay after rehearsal on Tuesday and Thursday of this week to fitted for his/her uniform with Ms. Penny.

  • Non concert band members MUST play our parade tune ("Jupiter") and "Amazing Grace" MEMORIZED for their section leader at Tuesday's practice and "Let It Be Me" and "TN Waltz" at Thursday's practice or they will loose their spot in the parade block.

  • Jazz Band will host the Porch Swingin' Event THIS TUESDAY @ 6:00 pm at the Rutherford Cabin (behind Rutherford School). The event is FREE and open to the public. All jazz band members must be there dressed in proper attire at 5:30. Remember to bring your lawn chairs and come out for a night of great music!

  • Fall 2016 Drum Major Audition Clinic will be held THIS WEDNESDAY from 3:30 until 5:00 in the band room. Students planning to attend the clinic MUST have turned in their contract signed and the audition fee BEFORE they can attend the clinic.

  • Concert Band members MUST play "TN Waltz" MEMORIZED for their section leader at Thursday's practice.

  • Band Banquet tickets went on sale this past Friday for $12/each! Band students get in for free but they MUST RSVP with me. 8th grader-Juniors can purchase up to 2 additional tickets. Seniors can purchase up to 3 additional tickets. Remember actual tickets will NOT be issued but rather a list will be kept at the door of the banquet as to who purchased a ticket. The last day to purchase tickets will be THIS FRIDAY so we can give the caterer a final number. NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR!

  • Memory Book balances are due no later than THIS FRIDAY in order for your student to receive his/her memory book at the banquet next Friday! See the attachment of all those who ordered and how much your balance is.

  • Teapot Parade is THIS SATURDAY @ 10 in Trenton! I hope many of you will line the street of Trenton to help cheer on the band. We are the next to last band in the parade. Students will meet at Peabody Place Apartments at 9:15 in full uniform (uniform, hat, black socks, theme shirt, marching shoes, gloves). Remember students will need to stop by the truck parked across from the old jail to drop off his/her uniform bag, hat box, and instrument case BEFORE meeting at the Peabody Place Apartments. I will be in the band room from 8:30-9:00 for students to pick up any equipment they might need for the parade. The parade will end at the Post Office in Trenton. Students will then walk around the court square to load his/her equipment/uniforms. We will load the buses and head to Humboldt as soon as all equipment is loaded.
