Dear St. Rita Families,
As we wrap up a joyful week at school, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us for our Winter Concerts. The students performed beautifully, and it was clear how much effort our teachers put into preparing them for these special moments. The decorations, music, and joyful energy made the evenings feel truly festive. Thank you for taking the time to support your children and celebrate their hard work.
Looking ahead, our final week before Winter Break is filled with meaningful traditions and joyful celebrations. On Wednesday, students will participate in a prayer service and have the opportunity to go to confession. We will attend our regular school Mass on Thursday, and on Friday, we will celebrate Las Posadas.
Las Posadas is a cherished Advent tradition that reenacts Mary and Joseph’s journey as they seek shelter on the night Jesus was born. Through song and procession, students reflect on themes of hospitality, hope, and preparation for Christ’s coming. Eighth grade parents are warmly invited to join us for Las Posadas on Friday at 8:30 a.m.
Following Las Posadas, students from our top-earning families from the School Walk—the Bohman and Grandke families—will take part in a much-anticipated tradition: throwing a pie in my face! Thank you again for your incredible support during that fundraiser.
Each day next week will feature a fun out-of-uniform theme day as we count down to Christmas. Classroom parties will take place on Friday afternoon. Please remember that teachers and the office must know in advance who is helping with classroom celebrations so we can ensure all volunteers are properly safeguarded. Please don’t arrive as a surprise or bring extra people unannounced - in order to keep the children safe, we need to check that helpers are background checked and safeguarded.
A reminder that St. Rita Church will hold a Town Hall Meeting this Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Father Thomas will share updates regarding the future of our parish and school, and all families are encouraged to attend.
Wishing you a warm, peaceful, and restful weekend as we prepare our hearts for the joy of Christmas.
Blessings,
Beth Woodward
Principal, St. Rita Catholic School
We appreciate your patience and cooperation during dismissal. A special thank you to all parents who wait for the “slow” sign before driving forward at the end of the day. For everyone’s safety, please do not move your vehicle until you see a teacher display the “slow” sign. Your attentiveness helps keep our students safe. It is normally just a three or four minute wait from dismissal until the “go” signal.
During the Winter months, students are required to wear pants, skirts/jumpers with Black, navy, or white leggings only. No shorts should be worn until March 16th.

This week marked the start of the basketball season for St. Rita, and every team put effort, playing with heart in their games. The courts had tons of energy as players showed their skills and teamwork, leaving it all on the floor. It was a very good beginning to the season and all teams are ready for weeks to come. All the teams were truly impressive and made for a nice week of competition.

Children in kindergarten through 8th grade are welcome to participate in the community service group at St. Rita called Tablesetters. We meet once a month to learn about Catholic social teaching and participate in service opportunities which reflect those teachings. Some examples of projects from the past are: making dog toys for the Humane Society, collecting winter clothes for a local school, making "blessing bags" for the patrons of the St. Patrick's meal program, planting bulbs on the St. Rita grounds, making scarves and hats for the Hospitality Center, and making cards for our homebound parishioners. Participation in Tablesetters gives students the opportunity to play a real part in the local and global work of serving our community. It's fun to work together in helping others!
