Dear Parents/Guardians,
WOW...November is right around the corner! We have turned the tide and are into the beautiful fall weather. Despite it getting darker earlier, the sun still shines upon us! We are loving the beautiful changes in the leaves and cooler weather.
A special thank you to our 8th graders! They worked very hard for the fun Halloween Carnival this evening. Wristbands are $12 to partake in all activities. There will be a hayride and Haunted Stage as well as other fun games and food. Looking forward to seeing everyone in their favorite costumne! Please join us from 5:30-7:30PM tonight. (Oct. 28)
We are so excited for our 6th grade girls' volleyball team with JP II. They are ranked #1 and need your support. A special shout out to Sarah S. for being on the team! We are proud of you Sarah and wish you the best of luck with the rest of the team. Come out and watch them play this Sunday at 2:30pm at St Ritas. Please come out to support Sarah and the rest of the team.
Our all Saint's Day reflection learning time is on Nov. 1 We will be learning more about God, His communion of Saints and the special meaning behind "All Saint's Day." Looking forward to the learning.
November is a short month with no school on Nov. 23, 24 and 25 for our Thanksgiving Break. We have much to be thankful for! Everyday is a blessing and thanking God for all the goodness he offers, brings us closer to HIM.
We are truly grateful for Father Michael's continued presence in St. Rita's school. His next visit is on November 9. He shared in a few classrooms the Priest garment he wears and named all of the clothing layers (Yikes...). He will be sharing with other classes on November 9 about Thanksgiving Blessings! We love hearing and learning about our Catholic Faith.
Sincerely,
Dr. Sue

The mission of Honor Flight is to celebrate America’s veterans by inviting them to share in a day of honor at our nation's memorials.
The grandfather of one of our students was able to participate in this fantastic experience. We loved hearing the story!
During the month of October, elementary and middle school students have been applying musical elements of rhythm and pitch by performing familiar and unfamiliar songs using boom-whackers.
Boom-whackers are plastic tubes constructed at different lengths, and with different colors. Each tube produces a specific pitch when struck. All classes have enjoyed performing melodies and harmonic chord progressions of songs that are recognizable, and some that are brand new!
Currently, all grade levels are working on standard #1, “Evaluate their own work, applying teacher-provided criteria such as application of selected elements of music.”
If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know via email or Class Dojo!
We had a busy quarter in science.
8th Grade Physical Science worked on graphing skills including identifying independent and dependent variables in a scientific process . We just finished our unit of matter with some activities such as: Monster Muck,
How to test if your hydrogen peroxide is viable, & Reaction Time
6th and 7th Life Science worked on Principles of Ecology and what it means to be a living organism. Our units were full of activities including our "smelly" fish dissection. This dissection served many purposes from identifying the teeth structure of a carnivore to identifying the organs of the fish.
Keep watching...more to come!!
Check these out.
Kudos to Mr. Ken Hinkle-8th grade teacher and chef!

Thursday's Mass was led by our 6th grade Class. Altar servers were Madison in 5th grade and Liam in 4th grade.
Each Friday students may dress in their Spirit Wear!
Students are still required to wear their uniform bottoms-(pants, skirts, jumpers etc.) but may wear any of their (new or older style) Spirit Wear tops to school.
In rainy or subzero weather, students need appropriate outerwear. Students are outdoors several times a day. A hooded sweatshirt for example is not as adequate as a winter jacket. If the outdoor temperature is 10 degrees or below, wind chill factor of “zero” degrees or below, hard rain or blizzard like conditions, recess is most likely to be indoors. The decision is up to the Principal and at times in collaboration with supervisory staff. While outside, if any playground supervisor determines that the weather is too severe for outdoor recess (as our weather changes often), the outdoor supervisor is authorized to bring the students inside.
On November 15, students are required to wear long pants or if skirts, jumpers are worn they must have white, navy, or black leggings or tights underneath. Sweatpants are not allowed during the school day under uniforms, but are allowed when going outside during recess time. We are outside several times a day and the weather is turning cooler! We kindly ask everyone to pack away their shorts starting November 15. Please remember to bring outside outer wear as well. We appreciate the cooperation!
As we approach the cooler weather, we know in WI things can change quickly, in the event RUSD closes schools for weather, Siena follows suit. No one with the possible exception of maintenance is expected to report to work. Staff will receive an all users communication from Siena/Ms. Kimberly Gardner.
Current Handbook Language we will follow:
The school will be closed including CARES supervision, on days when Racine Unified School District is closed. Closings are announced over local radio (WISN 1130, WTMJ 620 / 94.5, WRJN 1400), television (FOX 6, TMJ4, CBS58, WISN 12), and their media websites. Parents will not hear our school name announced on public media unless there are specific circumstances affecting only our school or only all Catholic schools.
School closings will be announced in the media as Siena Catholic Schools of Racine. Staff will receive an email from Ms. Kimberly Gardner. Rarely used, but if a delayed start is announced for Racine Unified School District, St. Rita will follow the same schedule and delay the start to the day.
Parents may use their own discretion to decide whether to keep their children at home for safety. This absence will be recorded as an excused absence.
Children's Liturgy of the Word
At the 10:30 Mass this weekend, children up to 5th grade are welcome to attend Children's Liturgy of the Word to hear the readings and discuss them with a child-centered focus.
During the closing song, the children are invited to come sing along and accompany the choir with egg shakers.
