Greetings,
Wow! We were so blessed with the many activities during Catholic Schools Week!
Each day brought joy, smiles, laughter, learning and fun. Guess the staff learned we truly need a couple of practices before the big Staff vs. 8th Grade Volleyball Game. The 8th graders rocked it. Way to go! In addition, we learned from Father Pat that we each are special in the eyes of God. Everyone is unique and no two individual are alike. He shared that in searching for one's vocations, God is always there and to lean into God for his guidance.
Our Veterans gave us an opportunity to learn how they protect our country, their roles and area of expertise so we may enjoy all of the blessings and freedoms.
I am so proud of the students and staff who did an amazing job due to the scheduling adjustments. All of the many helping hands, eyes and hearts truly was appreciated and it does build a strong school and family partnership. St. Rita has one of the strongest school and home partnerships-THANK YOU!
In addition, we had approximately 40 new families stroll through our beautiful building seeking more information and possible enrollment for the 2023-24 school year. Please keep spreading the word! We have fantastic new student Royal Ambassadors who are always available to give tours. If you know of anyone still interested, please send them our way.
Thank you for your interest in our Healthy Kids Hearts Kick Off through the American Heart Association! Wow-check out the updated information. We are meeting our goal. Keep up the great work. This ends February 17, so do not miss out.
As we prepare for the upcoming Lenten season, where we lift up the practices of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, we are all here to help each other and our students stay connected to God through prayer. Our goal is to teach that learning is both a gift and a prayer that they can be lifted up to God. The link below provides some guidance on what is lent.
Stay warm and enjoy the weekend.

Frame It!
Has someone upset you or acted irrationally? Maybe it has nothing to do with you. We can only see what others present to us. Most of the time someone’s disrespectful attitude has nothing to do with you and more to do with the state they are in or stressors they are dealing with. Knowing this makes it easier to refrain from reciprocating with criticism and instead offering assistance.
Your child's STAR Assessment Reports are coming home with your child today. Check your child's backpack. STAR Assessments are computer-adaptive tests (CATs) for Pre-K—12th grade students that measure reading, math, and early literacy skills. The teacher can then use the assessment results to monitor student progress and adjust teaching and learning strategies to help your child grow. The assessment is administered 3 times a year (fall, winter, and spring). The report coming home summarizes your child's scores. As with any assessment, many factors may affect a student's scores. It is important to understand that these scores provide only one picture of how your child is doing in school. The reports are yours to keep. They are not required to be signed and returned to school.
If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher.

We love our new student Royal Ambassadors! They rocked open house by taking many new families on a tour of St. Rita's. Way to go! Great leaders forthcoming...
Happy New Year St. Rita Families!
Thank you to all the students for a wonderful performance back in December! It was great to be able to have a Christmas Concert again!
During January, music students have been learning about different musical styles. We will also be identifying how music has form and structure.
Currently, all grade levels are working on standard #2, “Perform music, alone or with others, with expression, technical accuracy, and appropriate interpretation.” And also working on standard #4 “Demonstrate understanding of the relationship between music and the other subject areas…”
If you have any questions, please let me know via email or Class Dojo!

The Sixth Graders are competing for the title of "Math Hoops Champion" and the ability to compete at the Fiserv Forum in March!!
Through this experience, the students learn, play, and compete for the title of Math Champion. Along the way, they’ll improve important math and social-emotional skills.
Through this board game, 6th graders were put into teams, completed an NBA draft with real players and stats, learned about field goal percentages and so much more! This program is offered by the NBA and WNBA to help students re-enforce their math skills while playing basketball.
We went through pre-season to learn the rules of the game and are currently playing a round robin tournament.
The winner of the tournament plays against other students in the state at the Fiserv Forum in March!
Good Luck 6th Graders! You can do it.
Altar Servers for this week's Mass was Sophia and Mona in fourth grade. Fifth grade class led Mass this week.

In rainy or subzero weather, students need appropriate outerwear. Students are outdoors several times a day. A hooded sweatshirt for example is not as adequate as a winter jacket. If the outdoor temperature is 10 degrees or below, wind chill factor of “zero” degrees or below, hard rain or blizzard like conditions, recess is most likely to be indoors. The decision is up to the Principal and at times in collaboration with supervisory staff. While outside, if any playground supervisor determines that the weather is too severe for outdoor recess (as our weather changes often), the outdoor supervisor is authorized to bring the students inside.
As we approach the cooler weather, we know in WI things can change quickly, in the event RUSD closes schools for weather, Siena follows suit. No one with the possible exception of maintenance is expected to report to work. Staff will receive an all users communication from Siena/Ms. Kimberly Gardner.
Current Handbook Language we will follow:
The school will be closed including CARES supervision, on days when Racine Unified School District is closed. Closings are announced over local radio (WISN 1130, WTMJ 620 / 94.5, WRJN 1400), television (FOX 6, TMJ4, CBS58, WISN 12), and their media websites. Parents will not hear our school name announced on public media unless there are specific circumstances affecting only our school or only all Catholic schools.
School closings will be announced in the media as Siena Catholic Schools of Racine. Staff will receive an email from Ms. Kimberly Gardner. Rarely used, but if a delayed start is announced for Racine Unified School District, St. Rita will follow the same schedule and delay the start to the day.
Parents may use their own discretion to decide whether to keep their children at home for safety. This absence will be recorded as an excused absence.
