Greetings,
One of my favorite pictures! Love the 8th graders who can be so fun and silly!
I hope everyone had a blessed Easter and most enjoyable Easter Spring Break. It was so beautiful to hear all of the fun activities that your child(ren) did over their break. And, it is so good to see everyone's smile and spirit again.
This coming week we will be administering the STAR Assessment. We look forward to see each student's continued growth and learning. You will get the results once all assessments are completed.
It is just so hard to believe that we are entering into one of my favorite months. The month of May! Let's pray that our April showers will now bring those many May flowers. I am excited to share that as we move into May, the learning never stops. There is still so much to do. We will be looking forward to the warmer weather, celebrating the Feast of St. Rita, our Spring Musical, Field Day, 8th grade promotion and much much more. In addition, I would like to share that each Friday of May, we will hold OOU days for the students. They can follow the dress code of "YOU BE YOU!" The last week of school we will have OOU days and share what these days will be next week!
Check out the many learning activities happening...We are all so proud of your children and blessed to share in their faith journey and their academic learning.
Many blessings to you and your family!
Dr. Sue

Drop off – You can send in with your child or drop off any new/used, good condition, clean uniform items to the school office anytime during the week of April 24th during school hours. This includes navy polos; khaki shorts, pants, and skorts/skirts, Spiritwear, and the plaid skirts and jumpers.
Pick up (take what you can use) – All items donated/dropped off will be sorted by size and placed on tables outside the school gym doors the week of May 1st. Exact dates and times TBD as we watch the weather forecast.
God is smiling on each one! And, so are we!
This is what they call each other.
Thursday was their first experience together in church.
We were truly proud of our “Big Kids” as they taught their buddies how to participate in the Mass: praying the “Our Father” with hands up, kneeling on the risers, walking up to the altar for a blessing and singing in church.
Biggest challenge? Staying quiet and sitting for the entire Mass.
It was a great experience for all.
The best part? As the 4K was walking outside during 7th grade recess, they broke out of their “line” to hug their buddies….and the partnership begins!!
The 8th Graders are into their Chemistry unit by studying the different forms of atoms. What better way to understand this…with food! Yes, we know how to get middle school students to be engaged…give them food.
But first, we are going to play with our food. Students are using the bag of cereal to represent an element on the periodic table of elements. They calculated the percent abundance and average mass of this element in reference to isotopes.
Cleaning up the lab was easy…eat the element!
8th grade is designing and 3D printing rockets this quarter.
First: Students were given a set of parameters to design the rockets. Using our engineering notebooks and designing steps from our VEX projects, students applied this knowledge and designed a rocket on paper.
Second: Using metric conversions, measuring rulers, and the tinkercad program, students are turning their written designs into a visual piece on the tinkercad website.
Coming soon: After 3D printing their designs, they will make adjustments, redesign for a better model, and at the end of the year, we will launch them.
These rockets use a B6 engine that are set off with an electrical ignition, fly high, break apart, and float down with a parachute…in theory :)
Altar Servers for Thursday Mass were Madison and Mona. The sixth grade class led Mass this week.
100,000 questions and many skills masted.
So proud of them and Ms. Wiemer!
The end of the year St Rita Sports Banquet will be on Sunday April 30th 4:30 to 7:30pm in the school gym.
Food will be served around 5:00pm or shortly after.
Then we will pass out sports pins and if they have not received their school letter, they will receive it that night.
The whole family is invited it will be a great time for the kids and family.
There will be cake for dessert and water for drinks throughout the night.
Please let you child sports coach know if you are attending and how many.
Who is St. Rita?
Santa Rita is often referred to as Saint Rita of Cascia — an Italian widow and Augustinian nun who lived from 1381 to 1457. She is known at the Patroness of Impossible Causes and became a nun at age 36 after the death of her husband and her twin sons. When she was around 60 years of age, a small wound appeared on her forehead while she prayed. The wound was considered a partial Stigmata in reference to the crown of thorns that encircled Christ’s head, and she bore the wound until her death at age 76. When her body was prepared for funeral and later exhumed over the years, her forehead wound remained the same with glistening light reflected from the drops of blood. Her body also showed no decomposition and she was declared incorruptible.
Saint Rita forever became associated with a rose. When nearing the end of her life, she asked a visiting cousin to bring her a rose from her old home. Her cousin complied and was surprised to find a single rose blooming in the January garden and brought it back to Saint Rita.
The purpose of this communication is to notify you that we will be celebrating her feast day on May 25th school wide.
The following are some of the awesome events:

General Football information
The Football Program operates under the overall RYS philosophy of “Giving Kids a Sporting Chance”. The objectives of this program are to develop the physical and mental well being of the individual, to increase self-confidence and self-respect, and to encourage leadership development. We wish to develop better citizens through team play and sportsmanship-like competition. Provide a quality physical education program, allow every youth player to participate, and develop their skills to the extent they desire. We teach a positive attitude toward competition and discourage the “win at all costs” attitude. The goal is to teach each player that they are a winner if they give their best effort-regardless of the score.
