The purpose of this communication is to share that we will be adjusting the pick up and drop off procedures for our Before and After Care Program.
We have continually evaluated the process and recognize the need to provide a safe and secure environment for students and staff alike.
Therefore, starting Monday, January 23 the new procedures for drop off and pick up are:
DROP OFF
Parents/guardians are required to drop off their child in the vestibule area only.
No one will be allowed to enter the main areas of the building.
The sign in sheet will be carried by the staff member for the parent to sign.
Students will be buzzed in to enter the building and report directly to the before care room.
Staff will assist students with their belongings.
PICK UP
Parents/guardians will buzz in and must remain in the vestibule area.
Parents/guardians will not be allowed to enter the building.
A staff member will bring your child to the door.
The sign out sheet will be carried by the staff member for the parent to sign their child out.
No one will be allowed to enter into the main hallways/building.
We appreciate everyone’s attention to this matter. Our goal is to ensure that the safety and well-being of all staff and students is prioritized while keeping this process running smoothly.
PLEASE CALL THE SCHOOL OFFICE
If leaving early or coming late
Need to pick up a child for any other reason
*Absences- Family trips or vacations are unexcused
Please bring items to school starting January 23. Collection ends February 3.
We are very proud of our 8th grade boys and 5th grade girls for both winning 3rd place at the St. Lucy's tournament.
We wish all the teams good luck on the upcoming St. Rita Tournament beginning this weekend.
A message from middle school social studies!
Middle schoolers have been learning about current events, the economy and special interest stories every week. In addition, 6th grade is learning about early city-states such as Sumer, the fertile crescent, and how early human settlements solved their challenges. 7th grade is focusing on immigration and its impact on the United States and on immigrants' home countries. They are also learning about other global migration patterns in the past and present. 8th grade is focusing on early American settlements and our path toward independence.
They are doing a great job, keep up the good work!
Mr. Hinkle
We will be holding our annual St. Rita Georgie Porgie’s Night on Monday, January 30th, which is also “Celebrating Your Community” day for Catholic Schools Week. St. Rita’s will earn a portion of the total sales from that night. Each year we hold a competition to create the best “Rory’s Royal Sundae” and the winning sundae will be available for purchase on the 30th!
Classes will be working on their Sundae this week and we will announce the winning class next week Friday.
Left Brain,
Right Brain,
Right handed? Brush your teeth with your left hand. This simple trick makes your brain more adaptable to situations in which you may be apt to rely on your right brain abilities without tapping into the left brain. After a few weeks, you may notice your problem solving skills to be somewhat improved.
Altar Servers for Thursday Mass were 4th graders Liam G. and Sophia L. Sixth grade class led Mass this week.
We are very excited to bring back Kids Healthy Heart Challenge to St. Rita's. We are partnering with St. Lucy's. Our goal is to re-introduce this to our students, staff and families. We will have a kick off on January 30 for the students. Our goal is to have at least 100 families register and 18 families take the Finn's Challenge. More details to come but this is just to get us thinking about being active and eating healthy to keep our HEARTS in shape.
For more than 45 years, the American Heart Association has been making a difference with our Kids Heart Challenge. In this video, you’ll hear from a former participant, current coordinators and school administrators about the impact of this important program. Here is the link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7pOjj-RnZg
The American Heart Association is partners with schools across the country to create a community of lifesavers who recognize the warning signs & symptoms and know how to react in an emergency situation. They have set an aggressive goal of introducing 1.8 million families to Hands Only CPR. With your help - we will help crush that goal!
We would love to have you!
We are looking for parents, grandparents or relatives who have time from 2:45-3:05 p.m. any day of the week. We would love to have a team of 6-7 volunteer super readers to work with our students in enhancing their reading skills. If you are interested, please contact Dr. Sue at ssavaglio@sienacatholicschools.org

In rainy or subzero weather, students need appropriate outerwear. Students are outdoors several times a day. A hooded sweatshirt for example is not as adequate as a winter jacket. If the outdoor temperature is 10 degrees or below, wind chill factor of “zero” degrees or below, hard rain or blizzard like conditions, recess is most likely to be indoors. The decision is up to the Principal and at times in collaboration with supervisory staff. While outside, if any playground supervisor determines that the weather is too severe for outdoor recess (as our weather changes often), the outdoor supervisor is authorized to bring the students inside.
As we approach the cooler weather, we know in WI things can change quickly, in the event RUSD closes schools for weather, Siena follows suit. No one with the possible exception of maintenance is expected to report to work. Staff will receive an all users communication from Siena/Ms. Kimberly Gardner.
Current Handbook Language we will follow:
The school will be closed including CARES supervision, on days when Racine Unified School District is closed. Closings are announced over local radio (WISN 1130, WTMJ 620 / 94.5, WRJN 1400), television (FOX 6, TMJ4, CBS58, WISN 12), and their media websites. Parents will not hear our school name announced on public media unless there are specific circumstances affecting only our school or only all Catholic schools.
School closings will be announced in the media as Siena Catholic Schools of Racine. Staff will receive an email from Ms. Kimberly Gardner. Rarely used, but if a delayed start is announced for Racine Unified School District, St. Rita will follow the same schedule and delay the start to the day.
Parents may use their own discretion to decide whether to keep their children at home for safety. This absence will be recorded as an excused absence.
Safe Environment: How to sign up: Instructions.
