St. Rita’s Catholic School Newsletter - October Edition
Dear Parents,
As we embrace the beautiful season of fall, I am filled with gratitude for the vibrant community we have here at St. Rita’s. The changing leaves and cooler temperatures remind us that the holidays are just around the corner, bringing with them a time of reflection, gratitude, and joy. Halloween was always my favorite time of year when my children were young.
I am excited to provide an update on our Money Wars competition! The students have shown incredible enthusiasm and generosity. Here are the current standings:
1st place in grades 3K-2: Kindergarten with $209.87
1st place in grades 3-5: 5th Grade with $219.75
1st place in grades 6-8: 7th Grade with $120.68
Thank you to everyone who has participated so far. Your contributions help provide opportunities like field trips and supplies to enrich our students’ education.
A friendly reminder that our Halloween Carnival is next Friday, October 18th, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Wristbands are available for $10 in advance and $13 at the door. We will also have a variety of food and beverages for sale at the event. This is always a fun-filled evening for our students and families, and we hope to see you all there!
I would also like to gently remind everyone that students need to be in school by 7:45 AM. Punctuality is crucial as it sets the tone for the day and ensures that students do not miss out on important instructional time. Being on time helps our children develop good habits and maximizes their learning opportunities.
Lastly, I urge you to support your children in using IXL at home. Our teachers have developed individual skill plans for each student in this program, which are tailored to their specific needs and learning goals. Your encouragement and involvement at home can greatly enhance their progress and confidence.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Together, we can make this school year a wonderful experience for all our students.
Warm regards,
Beth Woodward
Principal, St. Rita’s Catholic School

Fire Safety Week
This week in the St.Ritas Girls volleyball all the teams played and did really good. Starting of with the 5th grade girls they played against St.Lucy at JPII gym. They won. Next we have the 6th grade girls. They had a double header at St.Rita’s gym. They played Hope school first and won against them but then sadly lost to All Saints.. Then heading over to the 7th grade girls. The 7th grade girls blue won against ASCS White but then 7th grade white took a loss to ASCS Red. Heading over to the 8th grade girls. They played Prairie at St.Lucy gym and won against them. One more thing that happened was the 8th grade girls played in the all saints tournament and placed 3rd. Since this happened, they were invited to the big Seston tournament, so congrats to them.

Tablesetters - Community Service Group
Children in kindergarten through 8th grade are welcome to participate in the community service group at St. Rita called Tablesetters. We meet once a month to learn about Catholic social teaching and participate in service opportunities which reflect those teachings. Some examples of projects from the past are: making dog toys for the Humane Society, collecting winter clothes for a local school, making "blessing bags" for the patrons of the St. Patrick's meal program, planting bulbs on the St. Rita grounds, making scarves and hats for the Hospitality Center, and making cards for our homebound parishioners. Participation in Tablesetters gives students the opportunity to play a real part in the local and global work of serving our community. It's fun to work together in helping others! Please fill out the form that was sent home with your child and return it to school before our first meeting.
Monthly Outdoor Rosary
Please join us in praying the Rosary outdoors. We will meet monthly from May to October on the 13th of each month at 7:00 PM at the St. Rita statue on the St. Rita grounds (near the parish office doors). Our next Rosary will be said on Friday, September 13. Rosaries, prayer booklets and assistance will be provided, if needed. The event will be canceled in the case of inclement weather. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and your friends and family. If you have small children, feel free to come for only one decade, if that is what works for your family. All are welcome!
