Hello St. Rita Parents and Students,
As we head into October, we have many events we are planning for the students here at St. Rita's. The Catholic Schools walk is coming up soon on October 14th, and the students have already raised a lot of money doing Money Wars in their classes. Funds from the Catholic Schools walk help provide enrichment experiences, like field trips, to our students year-round. We have several trips planned this month as well as a visit from the fire department!
We are still in need of volunteers to help with lunch and recess duty from 11-12, especially Wednesday-Friday. If you have the time, this is a wonderful way to connect with your child or grandchild. Please contact the school secretary, Mrs. Lopez, if you are interested.
Parents, grandparents, and relatives are welcome to join us at mass on Thursdays at 8:30 a.m. We would be happy to see you! Each week a different class prepares the readings, and this week the 4th graders did a phenomenal job! Our new music teacher, Ms. Brefka, has led the students in singing for mass - the kids are singing more confidently each week.
Please note there are a couple of days coming up when we will not have school. The teachers have professional learning on October 5th and 6th, so there are no classes. November 2nd is an early release day for conferences and November 3rd is no school for conferences.
Please continue to reach out to your child's teacher with individual concerns. St. Rita teachers go above and beyond for their students! Teachers have been posting class announcements in Class Dojo, which is a good way to send a quick note when needed if you need information.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Warmly,
Beth Woodward

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We are in need of volunteers to help with lunch supervision between 11-12, especially on Thursdays and Fridays. Please email bwoodward@sienacatholicschools.org if you are interested in helping, even one day per week.
Many helping hands build community and lightens the work load.
In addition to day-to-day activities, we are always open to new members and ideas for our Royal Parent Student Association. This is a parent-led volunteer organization that organizes recognition and fun activities as well as supports the school’s need for extra hands in a variety of ways.
SAFEGUARDING ALL OF GOD’S FAMILY
Safeguarding program and background check MUST be completed before you can volunteer at school or chaperone any school event or field trip.
Elias F. and Gemma B. represent St. Rita's at the Johnson Park Cross Country Meet on Thursday afternoon.
The girls started the meet with a mass start. All of the runners stand on a line shoulder to shoulder, waiting for the gun to fire. Gemma finished strong.
The boys warmed up while the girls finished. The boys also had a mass start. Elias was quick to share the lead with another runner for the entire race. Listening to our cross country coach, Bill Folk, Elias has a strategy to keep with the top runners and choose a set time to pick up speed and out run them all....and that is just what he did. Finishing the 2 mile race in 12 minutes and 50 seconds, he blasted across the finish line in first place.
Congratulations to Gemma and Elias! They have more meets coming up. Hope to see you there.
What luck to have all of your games on your home court!!
These girls have been playing together for several years and their dedicated coaches turned them into "volleyball machines." In their latest match against All Saints, they defeated their opponent in just two games. It went too quick!! They have fantastic serves, good plays at the net, and excellent passes.
Catch them every Sunday at St. Rita's.
Be sure to register for the Soles Walk.
