Dear St. Rita Families,
As we enter the spring season, I am excited to share some upcoming events and important updates with you all. Keep an eye on Class Dojos for announcements regarding upcoming field trips and events. We have some exciting educational outings planned, and we don't want anyone to miss out!
On May 1st and 2nd, there may be cameras taking video of interesting goings-on in our classrooms, as well as some drone footage from the grounds.
Mark your calendars for our Spring Concert on May 2nd, where our talented students will showcase their musical talents. It's sure to be an evening filled with beautiful melodies and performances
Near the end of May, we will have Festa St. Rita and Field day. Festa St. Rita will be on May 23rd. It promises to be a wonderful occasion for our school community to celebrate the story of St. Rita and have some fun as well. Our annual Field Day will be on May 28th (rain date May 29th). Students will participate in various outdoor activities and games in the afternoon, fostering teamwork and camaraderie.
We are eagerly anticipating the graduation ceremony for our 8th grade students on May 30th. It will be a momentous occasion to celebrate their achievements and wish them well as they embark on the next chapter of their lives. Father Michael has agreed to celebrate a graduation mass with us in the church that evening.
I would like to extend congratulations to the students who will be receiving their First Communion this weekend. This is a significant milestone in their faith journey, and we are proud to share this special moment with them. I have fond memories of my own children’s first communions - my older son received his in Spain when we were living there, and my younger son was here in Wisconsin. It was exciting for them and our family!
As always, thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Together, we create a nurturing environment where our students can thrive academically, socially, and spiritually.
Warm regards,
Beth Woodward
Principal
St. Rita Catholic School

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We are in need of volunteers to help with lunch supervision between 11-12. Please email bwoodward@sienacatholicschools.org if you are interested in helping, even one day per week.
Many helping hands build community and lightens the work load.
In addition to day-to-day activities, we are always open to new members and ideas for our Royal Parent Student Association. This is a parent-led volunteer organization that organizes recognition and fun activities as well as supports the school’s need for extra hands in a variety of ways.
SAFEGUARDING ALL OF GOD’S FAMILY

Peace Circle Rules
Once everyone is gathered for a peace circle, the facilitator (medicine man/ woman) instructs participants to sit in a circle with no furniture in between them as this implies power such as reporting to the principal’s office. Everyone in the circle is viewed as equal. Then the following guidelines are shared and reinforced during the discussion.
Speak when holding the talking stick (piece/ object) taking turns, in order in one direction. Anyone can pass on their turn but must be offered a turn.
Start with the phrase “I felt _______when __________ happened.” Never start with “you” as it implies blame and we only know what is in our heart and not others’ hearts.
Address people by name rather than talk about them to others.
In the next newsletter, you will learn how to, go into the “time machine”, present an opportunity to apologize, create a plan ,identify gifts and close the circle “brand new”.
To celebrate Earth Day on Monday, April 22, the Tablesetters service group at St Rita will be hosting an Earth Friendly Lunch. Pope Francis reminds us that “We must protect creation for it is a gift which the Lord has given us, it is God’s present to us; we are the guardians of creation.”
Please help us care for God’s creation by helping your child pack a lunch that causes as little impact to the Earth as possible. Some things you might consider trying are: reusable containers, a reusable lunch bag, cloth napkins, organic produce, or reusable silverware.
Please use this as an opportunity to discuss caring for creation with your child.
If your child plans to take hot lunch that day, we will talk about properly disposing of trash and compostable material. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with our efforts to care for God’s beautiful creation.

The Archdiocese of Milwaukee recognizes April 21st–April 27th as Safe Environment Awareness Week. Each year in the month of April, which is recognized around the country as child abuse prevention month, we dedicate a week to elevating the general awareness of the Church’s efforts to keep our children safe. We want people to know that we are committed to maintaining safe environments in our parishes and schools through adult child abuse prevention training; criminal background checks for all clergy, volunteers working with minors, and employees; safety training for children in each grade level; and adhering to all mandatory reporting requirement laws.
