Dear St. Rita Families,
We have a lot of things to celebrate at St. Rita's. Last weekend we hosted a fun Catholic Schools walk. Today are our Halloween parties and our Halloween Carnival after school. Mrs. Lopez took a lot of great pictures and videos of our festivities this morning. I loved seeing the teacher dance off after the costume parade!
Please note this coming week is All Saint's Day, which is a holy day of obligation. St. Rita parish encourages students to go to mass with their parents in the evening. We will not have mass in the church during the school day on November 1st or 2nd, but we will instead perform our own prayer service in school on Wednesday, November 1st.
As we start the new academic quarter next week, we will be refreshing our expectations around uniforms, food/drink in classrooms, and what independent work should look like in the classroom. Please partner with us to encourage students to meet these expectations. We are expecting students to:
Wear appropriate uniform clothing. Skirts should be 2" above the knee and hoodies are for spirit wear days only.
Bring only WATER in their drink containers in the classrooms.
Follow teacher directions regarding snacks and snack time in classrooms.
Understand what work they can do during independent work time, and what options they have when they are finished with assignments - i.e. IXL, TCI, independent reading, etc.
Charge Chromebooks at home (for students who are allowed to bring them home).
Keep homework current.
Next week we will be finishing first quarter report cards and holding parent-teacher conferences on Thursday. Sign-ups went out for K3-5 conferences (which are held in classrooms), and other teachers wilable for 5 minute conferences in the gym. If you find yourself needing more time with a teacher, please leave your name so they can conference with you at a later time.
We plan to announce our first quarter spirit awards, our top walk earner, and celebrate our volleyball teams at a school assembly next week. I believe I will be getting a pie in the face from the walk winner too! This will be a great opportunity to celebrate the hard work of our students and staff from the first quarter. We will be sure to share pictures from this event as well.
I hope to see many of you at the carnival tonight and during conferences next week. Enjoy the Halloween fun!
Warmly,
Beth Woodward

Many helping hands build community and lightens the work load.
In addition to day-to-day activities, we are always open to new members and ideas for our Royal Parent Student Association. This is a parent-led volunteer organization that organizes recognition and fun activities as well as supports the school’s need for extra hands in a variety of ways.

Safeguarding program and background check MUST be completed before you can volunteer at school or chaperone any school event or field trip.
