5/31 Last Day of School - 11:30am Dismissal (11:20am 3k & 4k)
Dear St. Rita Families,
The end of the year is full of fun events here at St. Rita! What an incredible celebration we had during the Festa St. Rita; the play performed by our talented students was nothing short of spectacular. Their hard work and dedication were evident, and the story of St. Rita came to life in such a meaningful and beautiful way. The carnival activities in the afternoon were equally delightful, filled with laughter, games, and a true sense of community. It was heartwarming to see the students creating memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this event a success, especially Mrs. LaCanne for organizing the performance and Ms. Thomas for organizing the games!
A special reminder that our 8th Grade Promotion ceremony will take place this Thursday evening at 6:00 PM. This is a significant milestone in our students' educational journey, and we look forward to celebrating their achievements and blessings as they prepare for the next chapter of their lives. Please help us honor our graduates and support them with your presence or prayers. The parish music director, Jessica Knerim, has offered to provide music for the mass.
Today, your child will be bringing home their STAR Test Reports. These reports summarize the results of the Star Assessments, which are computer-adaptive tests (CATs) designed for pre-K through 12th-grade students. The assessments measure skills in reading, math, and early literacy. Our teachers use the results from these assessments to monitor student progress and inform their teaching strategies. The tests are administered three times a year—fall, winter, and spring—to track growth and development over time. Please take some time to review the report, which offers a snapshot of your child's performance. Remember, many factors can influence test scores, and they represent just one aspect of your child's academic journey. The reports are for you to keep and do not need to be signed or returned to the school. If you have any questions or concerns about the results, do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher for further discussion.
Please note that our last day for K3-7th grade students is Friday, May 31st. We will finish at 11:30 a.m. and no lunch will be served that day. There is no aftercare that day as well. Thank you very much for making my first year at St. Rita’s memorable!
Blessings,
Beth Woodward

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We are in need of volunteers to help with lunch supervision between 11-12. Please email bwoodward@sienacatholicschools.org if you are interested in helping, even one day per week.
Many helping hands build community and lightens the work load.
In addition to day-to-day activities, we are always open to new members and ideas for our Royal Parent Student Association. This is a parent-led volunteer organization that organizes recognition and fun activities as well as supports the school’s need for extra hands in a variety of ways.
SAFEGUARDING ALL OF GOD’S FAMILY
Safeguarding program and background check MUST be completed before you can volunteer at school or chaperone any school event or field trip.
A life hack or cheat code for keeping your anger or hurt feelings in check is not to just think outside the box. When your feelings are challenged, consider others’ feelings outside the box. For example, think of a time someone at school or work snapped at you for something minor. Instead of reacting defensively, ask yourself, “What could be going on with this person that I may not know or see?” Maybe they are having a bad day and deserve some grace. Usually, when you are treated poorly, it has nothing to do with what you deserve and more with the other person’s opinion of themselves being reflected back at you.
The 2024 St Rita track season has come to an end.
Hi, I’m Coach Folk and this year’s track and field season was simply amazing!
Our team was 17 students strong with nine of them from St Rita and the remaining students from John Paul. There were nine 5th graders and only one 8th grader.
The motto for track is: “our sport is your sports punishment.” That being said, we run and we run a lot. A typical track meet will consist of sprints, 100M, 200M, & 400M (~¼ mile), distance runs of 800M (~ ½ mile) & 1600M (~ 1 mile), a few relays 4x100M or 4x400M, and when there are field events we can participate in long jump, shot put, and high jump. Each of our athletes participate in 2 running events minimum per meet.
This season we competed in five meets (all in Kenosha) this year with our largest one being the Bradford meet. At the Bradford meet, St Rita took 5th place overall with 18 top 3 finishers!!
Each athlete took great pride in their races and learned so much. In our last meet of the season 14 of our athletes took to the track and ran a total of 30 races… we had 11 personal best times at that meet.
I am very proud of each and every one of their personal achievements as well as the success this team has had this year.
Thank you
