Greetings,
Please take a moment to read each newsletter. There are many important communications in each edition. So much is happening and the time is flying by.
The Sports Banquet was such a delight. We had at least 150 plus families joining us in celebrating our student athletes. There is a video on our FB page from the event. Check it out. And, a very special thank you to all of our volunteer coaches. Please give a shout out to all of our coaches, Tom Ferguson and Mr. Long. We count on them to provide these awesome sporting activities.
We are looking forward to celebrating St. Rita! Permission slips were sent home this past Monday. Please return them as soon as possible. We need an approximate number of students who will be off campus for planning purposes. In addition, we hoping to hear a little more from a parent coordinating this with some food vendors, if you have lunch at a certain business, some proceeds will be coming back to St. Rita's for a new buddy bench. Our Royal Student Ambassadors are being creative in seeking ways to support a new buddy bench for the 2022-23 school year. I am very proud of their creativity and efforts!
Also in this edition are details for both staff and students regarding our spring musical. Mr. Scaffidi and all classes have been singing and practicing in order to present their best to you! It's been awhile since we held an in person concert. I cannot wait.
Watch for OOU days! We have some very special days for just our wonderful 8th graders and some cool days for 3K-7th graders.
I cannot thank Ms. Maraccini for her tireless efforts for preparing our students for the Hackathon. Students in grades 5-8 were invited to participate in creating a 3D project. The showcase is on Tuesday, May 17. A notice went home via KSwift. And, a flyer is in this edition.
We capped off this week by attending a trip to the SC Johnson iMet Center/Gateway Technical College and saw and experienced some amazing learning/future career opportunities. A video will be posted over the weekend.
As shared previously and in the previous newsletter regarding ALiCE we conducted our spring lockdown and discussed barricading doors. There was no physical action, all verbal. The staff did a wonderful job in leading them through this (K-8). 3K and 4K just practiced the normal lockdown.
Enjoy all that God brings to you and your family.
Blessings,
Dr. Sue

Hello St. Rita families!
Our students are very excited about our upcoming spring concert this year! The concert is on Wednesday, June 1st, at 6:30pm, in the gym. Students should report to their classrooms by 6:15 Wednesday evening.
Students are encouraged to dress up for the performance, and each grade level will perform two selections. Students are expected to attend the performance, and if there is a conflict, parents need to contact me as soon as possible.
Thank you for all that you do for our school! Happy Spring, and I am looking forward to seeing everyone on June 1st.
Mr. Scaffidi
Altar Servers Javier A and Madison Y. Seventh Grade led Mass this week.
This week in art, we're working on Mexican Folk Art. Specifically, Amate Bark art. The bark from wild fig, nettle, and mulberry trees are transformed into paper. The bark is boiled in a large pot with ashes for several hours until softened. The pulp is then rinsed and laid on a wooden board to be beaten with a stone until the fibers fuse into a paste. The paste is then molded and left to dry in the sun. The paintings are highly decorative and often depict flowers, birds, animals, or scenes from every day life. Students are able to draw the animal of their choice and then draw the animal's surroundings. While we aren't using bark like the Otomí people of Central Mexico do, the crumped, torn, brown construction paper will mimic the deep tones and organic look of the natural wood.
