10/21- SOLES WALK FOR CATHOLIC EDUCATION/ANNUAL FUNDRAISER 10:30 am
10/27 - Q1 Ends
10/27 - Halloween parties in classrooms and fall festival from 5:00-8:00 pm
10/30 - Q2 Begins
Dear St. Rita Families,
Tomorrow is our Catholic Schools walk. We plan to start at 10:30 a.m. here at St. Rita, and will walk indoors if there is rain. The fundraising efforts of our parents have been impressive! These funds provide numerous enrichment activities during the year that benefit our students.
Our first quarter of school is finishing next week, and teachers are working hard to give student feedback on report cards. Conferences (November 2nd) are a great time to have a deeper conversation with teachers about how your child is doing - Mrs. Lopez will send out sign ups for K3-5th grade conferences on Monday. 6th through 8th grade and specialist conferences will be held first-come, first-served in the gymnasium. We are hoping that offering parents an opportunity to meet with all middle school teachers individually will be more informative than meeting with only the homeroom teachers.
I have great memories of this time of year from my childhood. Costumes, pumpkin carving, and scary stories are memories that are still vivid for me. When my own sons were little, we did hayrides and scary mazes every year! The students at St. Rita are making many of their own memories with class parties and the Halloween Carnival. For our own Halloween parties here at school, please note that we have tiny three- and four- year old students who are easily frightened. Please leave the gory/bloody costumes for nighttime and don’t wear them to school. For details on each classroom’s plans, please look for Dojo messages from your child’s teacher.
St. Rita’s new music teacher, Elizabeth Brefka, is working on holiday music selections for the Christmas concert already. Our performances are scheduled for Dec. 20th, with K3-2 starting at 6:00 p.m. and grades 3-8 starting at 7:00 p.m.
Please continue to reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions or concerns about goings on in the classroom. I hope to see many of you at the walk or the carnival!
Warmly,
Beth Woodward

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We are in need of volunteers to help with lunch supervision between 11-12. Please email bwoodward@sienacatholicschools.org if you are interested in helping, even one day per week.
Many helping hands build community and lightens the work load.
In addition to day-to-day activities, we are always open to new members and ideas for our Royal Parent Student Association. This is a parent-led volunteer organization that organizes recognition and fun activities as well as supports the school’s need for extra hands in a variety of ways.
SAFEGUARDING ALL OF GOD’S FAMILY
Safeguarding program and background check MUST be completed before you can volunteer at school or chaperone any school event or field trip.

St. Cat’s invited Rob Holla, national youth speaker, to give a presentation about vaping.
WOW!! What a dynamic speaker! Our students were mesmerized for 75 minutes with interactive activities, colorful videos/pictures, and believe it or not…a few magic tricks.
Mr. Holla’s message was very clear, “I am not going to tell you not to vape, but I am going to give you some science and statistics on why you should make your own choice not to vape.”
His talk included making positive choices in life and the power of influence and perception.
Ella P. (8th grade) almost opened an exploding coke can while Raelyn S. (6th grade) and Arlette B. (8th grade) almost won $100 each!! But they were all “foiled” by magic. Was this better than science and math class????? We will leave that for the students to answer.
Introducing our newest lab assistant Lily L. She has been displaying and dissecting bee hives lately.

The St. Rita Dinner Club is a great way to meet new people from church and school while also getting better acquainted with those you already know.
12-14 adults are grouped together and dine out at various medium-priced restaurants. There are group leaders who will coordinate and communicate the dates of the gatherings once a month. Our first dinner gathering will be in October.
This is a very flexible club…just come when you can!
If you are currently in a group from last spring no need to sign up again. We will keep you on our list. Any questions and for signing up, please contact:
