Dear Parents/Guardians,
Well, Saturday is almost here! Do you have your spirit wear, walking shoes, hat, gloves and smiles? We are ready to celebrate Catholic Education Week. I will see you at the Siena Center bright and early (9-11AM) Come one come all...Bring everyone in your family. It will be a beautiful day of walking along the LakeShore. Even if walking is not your thing, feel free to run or sit at a bench! A special shout out to St. Rita's RPSA for their tireless efforts in all of the fundraising activities. And, truly blessed for the many kind financial donations by each family and students. Every penny counts. All of the money comes back to St. Rita's for your children. We made $350 from Culver's! The funds support items like: outdoor recess equipment, cameras for our photography club, all after school clubs, staff appreciation and much much more.
We're all very proud of all our after school clubs and sports happening this first quarter. Students are very involved and it is good to see them engaging in building life long skills and friendships through athletics and current clubs.
We are looking forward to our eighth-grade Halloween Carnival on Friday, October 28! The students have been planning and it is going to be an awesome night for everyone, so we hope you all attend. It is from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at St. Rita’s...come dressed in costumes and enjoy! More details forthcoming.
A couple of shoutouts to the many volunteers that have been providing extra hands and their hearts during this first quarter. We have lunch, reading and office volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering, please let me know. We are building a volunteer literacy (reading) group. Volunteers read with students from 2:45-3:05PM. If you have time, we would love to have you. THANK YOU!
We are looking forward to Parent Teacher Conferences on November 3. This is a great time to visit one on one (virtually or in person) with your child’s teacher; we encourage dialogue about what is going well for and what areas are in need for continued learning. We want all students to be successful and thrive at St. Rita’s academically, physically, socially, and emotionally. Sign ups are further down in this newsletter.
It is hard to believe Quarter 1 end of October 28. Staff is working hard to prepare you for your child’s first Standards Based Report for this year (grades 1-8). Our early childhood grades (3K, 4K, and 5K) will also receive reports. These report cards are provided at the end of semesters 1 and 2.
I would like to end with one last shout-out to our teaching staff! We have the very best staff that truly love your children and are working very, very hard for all students and have invested in their learning. Give your child’s teacher a shout-out when you can! I believe in them and I believe we are stronger together when we all support each other.
Blessings!
Dr. Sue

Mrs. Peeper was in town and spent the day with us! Thank you Ms. Peeper for coming back to see us all!
Mass this week was led by the eighth grade class. Altar servers for this week were Javier A. & Porter C.
So excited to see our PEACE LEARNING CIRCLE FRIENDS! Grades 3, 4 and 5 learned 6 different ways to center ourselves when in challenging situations! Ask your child to name at least one and demonstrate it.
Each Friday students may dress in their Spirit Wear! Students are still required to wear their uniform bottoms/pants/dresses/skirts/jumpers etc. but may wear any of their (new or older style) Spirit Wear tops to school.
FIRST THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH
St. Rita's parish and school would like to invite a family member to Mass on the first Thursday of each month. Mass begins promptly at 8:30AM. Therefore, if you would like to sit with your child(ren), please arrive no later than 8:25am so that you may find your child(ren) and sit in our VIP section of the church. As you enter the church this section is on your far right.
Class DOJO is another way to notify your child's teacher(s) of your attendance. It is not required to notify, but helpful. Hoping to see many of our families. Join us on November 3rd!
Taken from the 2022-23 Handbook
Students should wear outerwear appropriate to weather conditions and must be labeled with the student's name. If the temperature is less than 40 degrees, students will be expected to wear a proper outdoor coat. Sweatshirts are not considered coats. Snow pants, boots, mittens/gloves, and hats are needed for below-freezing temperatures, and snowy days are required for students in 3K, 4K, and kindergarten through fourth grade.
Snow pants are required for any grade-level student who would like to play in the snow. In the fall, students may wear their uniform shorts and/or skirts/skorts from August through November 15. Tights, leggings, fleece-type leggings, and/or black or navy sweatpants must be worn under the girls' skirts/skorts from November 15-March 30. Long pants are acceptable at any time. In the Spring, students may wear their uniform shorts starting April 1 through the end of the school year. Students wearing uniform skirts or skorts do not require legging/sweatpant undergarments for warmth starting from April 1 until the end of the school year.
Come Pray for Peace
The Catholic Church dedicates October as the Month of the Holy Rosary. In honor of this, on Saturday, October 1 at 4:00 we will be saying a rosary on our beautiful parish grounds to pray for peace in our world. We will meet at the Mary statue in the boulevard and process to the shrines as we pray. If the weather is uncooperative, we will pray in the church. Rosaries will be provided, if needed, or you can use your own special rosary. Prayer booklets will be provided as well as assistance in praying the rosary, if needed. Be sure to bring your friends and family. All are welcome! You can pray with us and then attend 4:45 mass.
Children's Liturgy of the Word
At the 10:30 Mass this weekend, children up to 5th grade are welcome to attend Children's Liturgy of the Word to hear the readings and discuss them with a child-centered focus.
During the closing song, the children are invited to come sing along and accompany the choir with egg shakers.
Please come and join us!
