Hello St. Rita Parents and Students,
We have had an exciting couple of weeks at St. Rita! Kids and teachers are off to a great start with learning our new routines and expectations. Our first mass was this week and the students were very well behaved - please note that we would love parents or family to attend ANY mass with us this year!
Please reinforce with your children the dress code - skirt length should be 2" above the knee or longer. The majority of the school is doing well with this, but please take a look when your students leave the house in the morning!
Our STAR testing is nearly finished. These tests are known as the STAR assessment. Overall, we utilize this assessment to better understand where each student is at in reading and math in order to determine each child's appropriate instructional level. Teachers may differentiate instruction in order to meet students where they are at and to help them grow in skills they need to increase their learning.
All St Rita's parents and guardians are invited to join us on Tuesday, September 5th to meet me and our various school leaders. Information will be presented on all aspects of the St. Rita's school community, including school expectations, extracurricular clubs and groups, athletics, our fundraising walk, how to get involved, and more. Parents only, please. Some child care will be available for those ages 3-10, but space is limited so RSVP will be required - Here is the link for childcare. Any parents who attend will receive an out of uniform pass for their children!
We will once again have a very warm day on Tuesday next week. We plan to continue rotating through air conditioned spaces, giving frequent drink and water misting breaks, and using fans to cool off. If you choose to keep your child home because of the heat, that is an excused absence (but please call the office!).
Please continue to reach out to your child's teacher with concerns. Teachers have been posting class announcements in Class Dojo, so please download the app if you need it.
Have a wonderful holiday weekend!
Warmly,
Beth Woodward

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We are in need of volunteers to help with lunch supervision between 11-12, especially on Thursdays. Please email bwoodward@sienacatholicschools.org if you are interested in helping, even one day per week.
Many helping hands build community and lightens the work load.
In addition to day-to-day activities, we are always open to new members and ideas for our Royal Parent Student Association. This is a parent-led volunteer organization that organizes recognition and fun activities as well as supports the school’s need for extra hands in a variety of ways.
SAFEGUARDING ALL OF GOD’S FAMILY
Safeguarding program and background check MUST be completed before you can volunteer at school or chaperone any school event or field trip.
There will be a safeguarding class offered at St. Rita's on September 7th - please email Rachel Kroes for more information.
Blessings,
Beth Woodward
