Dear St. Rita School Community,
I would like to extend my heartfelt thankfulness to the 3rd and 8th grade classes and their teachers for making Festa St. Rita a truly memorable event. Your hard work and dedication were shown in every detail, and we are so grateful for your contributions to our school community. The play is always a moving lesson about the life of our patron saint. The day itself is a St. Rita tradition that brings our community together!
A friendly reminder that next week Wednesday is Field Day and our school music assembly. In the event of rain, these activities will be moved to Thursday. Please make sure your children are dressed appropriately and ready for a fun and musical day! Please continue to check Class Dojo for announcements and updates regarding our many end-of-the-year activities. We want to ensure everyone stays informed as we wrap up the school year.
We kindly ask that parents reach out to teachers first when they have a concern. Our teachers go above and beyond for our students and families, and they are always happy to help address any questions or issues you may have. If a teacher cannot resolve something to your satisfaction, please reach out to me.
We wish all a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. May it be filled with rest, reflection, and time with loved ones.
Warm regards,
Beth Woodward

Watch for your child's Star Test Reports to come home today. Star Assessments are computer-adaptive tests (CATs) for pre-K—12 students that measure reading, math, and early literacy skills. The teacher can then use the assessment results to monitor student progress and inform teaching. The test is administered 3 times a year (fall, spring, and winter). The report coming home summarizes your child's scores on the test. As with any test, many factors can affect a student's scores. It is important to understand that these test scores provide only one picture of how your child is doing in school. The reports are yours to keep. They do not have to be signed and returned to school. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher.

7th grade END OF THE YEAR Fieldtrip!!
We had many places to go:
cooperative strategies to learn (Riverbend), chicken to eat (Chick -fil-A), soccer balls to kick (Cliffside Park) and hens to chase or were they chasing us???? (EcoJustice).
It was a fun-filled day
These were our take-aways from the trip:
Everyone can be a leader, you have to be quiet to listen, cooperation needs everyone
Our math teacher can even give math tests at Chick-Fil-A but it can be done while eating ice cream
Cliffside park is a hidden gem of a park
Guinea Hens make good attack animals
….really, they are studying….and eating
…and eating more.
What is better than experimenting with chemical vs physical states in chemistry?
8th graders learn about equilibrium and balance in chemistry, how chemically changing something means it will not return to its original state, and there is chemistry in cooking.
We went out to the parking lot to prove these things….and have a snack…
They are always hungry!!!
Come and join us on Thursdays at 8:15am at our School Masses. Families are welcome to sit with their students on the right side of the Church. Hope to see you there!
Religious Education is Collecting can tabs for Children's Hospital again this year. Tabs can be dropped off at the school office
Tablesetters - Community Service Group
Children in kindergarten through 8th grade are welcome to participate in the community service group at St. Rita called Table setters. We meet once a month to learn about Catholic social teaching and participate in service opportunities which reflect those teachings. Some examples of projects from the past are: making dog toys for the Humane Society, collecting winter clothes for a local school, making "blessing bags" for the patrons of the St. Patrick's meal program, planting bulbs on the St. Rita grounds, making scarves and hats for the Hospitality Center, and making cards for our homebound parishioners. Participation in Tablesetters gives students the opportunity to play a real part in the local and global work of serving our community. It's fun to work together in helping others! Please fill out the form that was sent home with your child and return it to school before our first meeting.
