Dear St. Rita’s Families,
I hope this message finds you well. As we settle into the school year, I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible work our teachers are doing. Their dedication to planning engaging lessons and exciting field trips benefits all our students! Our K5 and 1st-grade students are diving into STEAM activities, and they recently enjoyed a wonderful field trip to the Apple Farm. Our 4th graders had an educational visit to the trout ponds, and our 8th graders explored future opportunities at Gateway Technical College. These experiences are invaluable for our students’ growth and learning.
I also want to remind everyone about our out-of-uniform days. While these days are a fun break from the regular dress code, it’s important to ensure that all clothing remains school-appropriate. Please remember:
No ripped clothing
Sneakers are required
No midriffs
No leggings or bike shorts
No spaghetti strap tops
We are blessed to have Father Marco and Father Thomas joining our school community. Their regular visits have been a source of spiritual enrichment for both students and staff. We are grateful for their presence and the positive impact they are making.
A big thank you to all the families who contributed to the success of the Catholic Schools Walk. Your hard work and donations are deeply appreciated. As part of this event, we are excited to announce that Penny Wars will start on Monday. This fundraiser is a fun way for students to get involved and support our school. This year, the classes with the most money raised in their grade band (3K-1st, 2nd-5th, 6th-8th) can choose from a variety of exciting prizes:
Ice cream sundae bar
Pizza with extra recess
Class chooses theme for class out-of-uniform day
Extra recess with an activity (field game and/or use of playground equipment)
Culver’s for lunch (kid’s meals including drink and custard, ordered ahead and delivered to school)
Lunch and recess with Rory
Donuts for breakfast or snack
Thank you for your continued partnership and support in educating your children. Together, we are creating a nurturing and enriching environment for our students to thrive.
Warm regards,
Beth Woodward
Principal, St. Rita’s Catholic School

Tablesetters - Community Service Group
Children in kindergarten through 8th grade are welcome to participate in the community service group at St. Rita called Tablesetters. We meet once a month to learn about Catholic social teaching and participate in service opportunities which reflect those teachings. Some examples of projects from the past are: making dog toys for the Humane Society, collecting winter clothes for a local school, making "blessing bags" for the patrons of the St. Patrick's meal program, planting bulbs on the St. Rita grounds, making scarves and hats for the Hospitality Center, and making cards for our homebound parishioners. Participation in Tablesetters gives students the opportunity to play a real part in the local and global work of serving our community. It's fun to work together in helping others! Please fill out the form that was sent home with your child and return it to school before our first meeting.
Monthly Outdoor Rosary
Please join us in praying the Rosary outdoors. We will meet monthly from May to October on the 13th of each month at 7:00 PM at the St. Rita statue on the St. Rita grounds (near the parish office doors). Our next Rosary will be said on Friday, September 13. Rosaries, prayer booklets and assistance will be provided, if needed. The event will be canceled in the case of inclement weather. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and your friends and family. If you have small children, feel free to come for only one decade, if that is what works for your family. All are welcome!
Fall Family Service Opportunity
On Saturday, October 5 (9:00AM-11:00AM), families with students in grades 4-8 will have the opportunity to work together caring for God’s beautiful creation at River Bend Nature Center. We will help with tasks that might include: moving firewood, pulling invasive plants, putting down wood chips or trail maintenance. Please come and join us in our service efforts. If your family plans to participate, please complete and return the form sent home with your child by Wed. Oct. 2.
