5/31 Last Day of School - 11:30am Dismissal (11:20am 3k & 4k)
Dear Parents,
I hope this message finds you well as we approach the end of the school year. There are several important events and reminders I’d like to share with you.
Next Thursday, we will be celebrating our annual Festa St. Rita. Please keep an eye on Dojo announcements for detailed information regarding the day's activities. I would also like to remind you that permission slips for taking your children out for lunch on Festa were due today. Following mass next Thursday, we will perform a short play of the story of St. Rita. Students will have the opportunity to do carnival games that are organized by the 8th grade class in the afternoon.
Field Day will be held on the afternoon of May 28. This is always a fun and active day for our students, filled with games and outdoor activities. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for physical activity and the weather. Our rain day is May 29th.
Our 8th grade graduation ceremony will take place on May 30. This is a significant milestone for our students as they transition to the next chapter of their educational journey. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and achievements, and we look forward to celebrating with them and their families.
The last day of school is May 31, with an early dismissal at 11:30 AM. Please note that there will be no lunch served on this day. It has been a truly remarkable year, and this final day will be a time to remember all that we have accomplished together.
As I reflect on my first year as principal at St. Rita’s, I am impressed by the warmth and support of this community. Our students have achieved much and grown in countless ways. I want to thank each of you for your involvement and dedication to making our school a special place for your children to learn and grow.
Warm regards,
Beth Woodward
Principal

Who is St. Rita?
Santa Rita is often referred to as Saint Rita of Cascia — an Italian widow and Augustinian nun who lived from 1381 to 1457. She is known at the Patroness of Impossible Causes and became a nun at age 36 after the death of her husband and her twin sons. When she was around 60 years of age, a small wound appeared on her forehead while she prayed. The wound was considered a partial Stigmata in reference to the crown of thorns that encircled Christ’s head, and she bore the wound until her death at age 76. When her body was prepared for funeral and later exhumed over the years, her forehead wound remained the same with glistening light reflected from the drops of blood. Her body also showed no decomposition and she was declared incorruptible.
Saint Rita forever became associated with a rose. When nearing the end of her life, she asked a visiting cousin to bring her a rose from her old home. Her cousin complied and was surprised to find a single rose blooming in the January garden and brought it back to Saint Rita.
The purpose of this communication is to notify you that we will be celebrating her feast day on May 23rd school wide.
The following are some of the awesome events:
St. Rita Novena begins on May 14 for 9 days.
St. Rita school wide parade/walk to Church/Mass on May 23.
St. Rita blessing of roses during Mass on May 23.
- St. Rita’s 3rd graders after Mass on May 23rd will perform a play showcasing the life of St. Rita.
- All 3rd grade families invited to attend.
- 10:30-Noon ALL School Lunch Activity
-If you elect for your child to remain at school, students will:
Eat lunch in the cafeteria from 10:30-11:00am.
Released outside to play at approximately 11:00am.
Extra duty coverage will be provided.
In the event of rain, we will remain inside.
St. Rita’s 8th grade students will be hosting a carnival in the afternoon for all grade levels.
St. Rita Track team has been practicing and our Meets start soon. Come out and show your support! The schedule is below:
May 20 - 4:45pm at UW Parkside Track, HWY E Kenosha
Bring a chair and watch these student athletes compete in short and long distance running events. Running is hard, but hearing the cheers from parents and friends gives them energy.
Little Roar’s second adventure was going to work with Elizabeth Zuniga, mother of Natalia C. (4k) and psychotherapist. She works for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin- School Based Mental Health. She is located at Mitchell School.
Little Roar’s job responsibilities included talking to students about their week, teaching them about feelings, positive thoughts and affirmations, validating students’ experiences, and assessing for suicidal and homicidal ideation.
She worked with Elizabeth from 8:30- 4:30. Her favorite part of the job was meeting new students, helping them learn about their feelings, playing with various fidgets, completing body based activities to calm down, and providing a safe place to talk about what’s on their mind. Taking document notes was her least favorite part but very important.
Would you like Little Roar to shadow your parent at work? Email Coach Bodi at Gbodi@sienacatholicschools.org.

This is a very moving experience and appropriate for volunteers of all ages. Please arrive at the cemetery (21731 Spring St, Union Grove, WI 53182) between 7:30 - 8:00 AM and look for our St. Rita group. A brief demonstration on proper flag placement will be given.

We will meet monthly from May to October on the 13th of each month at 7:00 PM at the St. Rita statue on the St. Rita grounds (near the parish office doors). Rosaries, prayer booklets and assistance will be provided, if needed.
The event will be canceled in the case of inclement weather. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and your friends and family.
If you have small children, feel free to come for only one decade, if that is what works for your family.
All are welcome!
