October 16: SOLES Walk for Catholic Education
We attended weekly Mass on Thursday mornings from 8:30-9:30am. We ask that off-campus appointments be scheduled any other time in order to prevent disrupting the Mass by pulling out your child. We do understand there are extenuating circumstances.
We're walking local this year! All six Siena schools will be participating in the walk on Saturday, October 16 at the Siena Retreat Center! The one-mile walk will include Halloween candy stops, music, prizes, and fun! Best of all, ALL PROCEEDS from St. Rita School fundraising STAY AT ST. RITA SCHOOL.
Thanks to generous sponsors with the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, the funds each school raises in 2021 will be eligible for a proportional gift match, up to $5,000!
Fundraisers, please register here and then check in with your school's walk captains. Don't care to register? We'd still love to have you join us!
Greetings Families,
We have almost completed our STAR assessment. The link below will provide you the information you may need if you are interested in learning more about this assessment. Overall, we utilize this assessment to better understand where each student is at in reading and math in order to determine each child's appropriate instructional level. Teachers may differentiate instruction in order to meet students where they are at and to help them grow in skills they need to increase their learning.

We are also excited to be intentional about celebrating cultures across the globe. We have certain months that are designated to celebrate specific groups of people and culture, and while we should be learning and celebrating people and groups throughout the year, these months might also cause us to reflect more on our intentionality.
This month is Hispanic Heritage Month! This allows us to reflect, recognize, and support our Hispanic population and their amazing contributions.
Hispanic Heritage Month runs September 15 through October 15. Here are a few stats from the Pew Research Center.
Our middle school Social Studies students have done a little research on a prominent individual who made an impact. Each Wednesday, during morning announcements, a student will read their report.
It’s important for students to see their own ethnicity in education to add relevance and value. Here are a few different questions and resources even as a family to consider (and a coloring contest) during Hispanic Heritage month.
Grades 1-8 attend Mass everything Thursday. It is a beautiful walk over to the Church. Mass starts at 8:30am. I am so very proud of the grade levels who have served during the Mass from reading, highlighting the intentions, and singing! We will be looking at possibly training students in grades 3-8 as altar servers. Father Michael shared he would love the help.
An order form was sent out this week for St. Rita sweaters and spirit wear. The jackets and fleece may be worn anytime with the school uniform. The spirit wear shirts may be worn on spirit wear OOU days or at events to show support for our school. Payment is due September 30 with the order forms. If you have any questions please contact Courtney Ulinski.
We love Mr. Joe (aka Grandpa Joe to our students). We are very grateful for all of the help during our lunch and recess hours! Thank you for being such an important part of our school community!
What an exciting time for 4K! The students have been hard at work learning the names of all our friends! We love to have a friend to play with! 4K learned that Jesus is our best friend and we need to share and be kind to others. For our morning work, we are learning our own names in print! Some of the other skills we have been practicing are listening, following directions, and putting our things where they belong. It is hard work to remember all those things, but we can do it! The teachers painted our hands and it tickled! We can’t wait to do it again. 4K also goes to specials like art, library, phy ed, and music. Checking out a book from the school library is exciting! The class' favorite song is "Three Little Monkies Swinging From A Tree". Our work includes singing, dancing, playing, and learning which is so much fun!
The impact of social media on our children today can be challenging for both the child and parent. The flyer outlines a youth listening session about the impact of Social Media.
This is being facilitated by the Office of Children's Mental Health during the month of September. All participants will receive an e-gift card.
Please know that throughout the state, COVID cases in children are increasing. We do want to ensure that each child that comes to school is healthy and ready to learn. Please review the following regarding COVID:
If a vaccinated person is a close contact of a positive individual, they do not have to quarantine UNLESS they have symptoms.
Masked individuals who are close contacts of a positive individual who was also masked during interactions will not have to quarantine per the CDC.
Quarantined individuals will be able to get tested six (6) days after exposure and will be allowed to return seven days after exposure with a negative test UNLESS the County Health Department shares something different with the family.
Students who TEST POSITIVE or who are considered close contacts will receive a letter from the school.
Siena Catholic Schools also has a dashboard updated weekly showing where numbers are by school.
IF your child is in quarantine and/or positive, please work with your child's teacher regarding classwork.
There are two free parenting workshops that will be offered by Children's WI on Tuesday, September 21, and Tuesday, September 28 at 6:30 pm. These workshops will be held via zoom and Children's WI will be providing a $50.00 gift card to one participant at these programs!
More events will be held in October and November.
