Dear St. Rita Families,
We are off to a wonderful start to the school year, and I want to thank you for your partnership in helping our students grow and thrive. Your support is such a blessing to our school community.
Today, your child is bringing home their STAR score report. This is just one snapshot of your child’s learning, but it provides valuable information that helps teachers plan small group and whole class instruction to meet the needs of every learner. At school, we also talk with students about setting goals for the next STAR test and the steps they can take to reach them. Many students have already shared that they will increase their independent reading time or commit to a set number of minutes on IXL practice each day. I encourage you to ask your child about their goals and talk together about how they can take action at home.
Looking ahead, we are excited to invite our middle school students and their parents to our first Donuts with Grownups event on Wednesday October 1st. This gathering will take place before school and is a wonderful opportunity to build connections between families and classmates. We will send out a Signup Genius link on Monday to RSVP so that we know how many donuts to order.
A quick reminder: when questions or concerns arise about your child’s classroom experience, please reach out directly to your child’s teacher first. They know your child best in the classroom setting and are eager to work with you. Turning to group chats or social media can cause confusion or miscommunication, so we appreciate your cooperation in supporting a strong and respectful partnership between home and school.
Thank you again for your prayers, support, and trust as we continue to build a faith-filled, joyful school year.
With gratitude,
Mrs. Beth Woodward
Principal, St. Rita Catholic School
Dismissal Reminder
We appreciate your patience and cooperation during dismissal. A special thank you to all parents who wait for the “slow” sign before driving forward at the end of the day. For everyone’s safety, please do not move your vehicle until you see a teacher display the “slow” sign. Your attentiveness helps keep our students safe. It is normally just a three or four minute wait from dismissal until the “go” signal.
Uniforms on Fridays
Please remember that students should wear their regular uniforms on Fridays. Our Spirit Wear Fridays will begin after Thanksgiving. We’ll share more details as we get closer to that time.
Our students in K5 were administered the STAR Reading Assessment. Our students in grades 1-8 were administered the STAR Reading and STAR Math Assessments. These assessments provide results that assist St. Rita School teachers to plan instruction, individualize instruction, and help identify students who may need supplemental services. The STAR assessments are computer adaptive which means they are administered on a computer and questions will increase in level of difficulty as students answer them correctly.
STAR Early Literacy and STAR Reading assess skills in “Reading, Reading Foundational Skills and Language”. STAR Math assesses skills in “Numbers and Operations, Measurement and Data, Functions, Number and Quantity, Statistics and Probability, Geometry, Mathematical Thinking and Algebra.” Not all skills are assessed at every grade level
The STAR assessment is administered yearly in Fall, Winter and Spring. Results throughout the course of the year will show which students have reached benchmark goals, which students are responding to interventions and which students may still need additional support.
Your child’s STAR assessment report is being sent to you on paper today and electronically on Monday. If you have questions regarding your child’s report, please contact the classroom teacher for more information.

Tablesetters - Community Service Group
Children in kindergarten through 8th grade are welcome to participate in the community service group at St. Rita called Tablesetters. We meet once a month to learn about Catholic social teaching and participate in service opportunities which reflect those teachings. Some examples of projects from the past are: making dog toys for the Humane Society, collecting winter clothes for a local school, making "blessing bags" for the patrons of the St. Patrick's meal program, planting bulbs on the St. Rita grounds, making scarves and hats for the Hospitality Center, and making cards for our homebound parishioners. Participation in Tablesetters gives students the opportunity to play a real part in the local and global work of serving our community. It's fun to work together in helping others!
Monthly Outdoor Rosary
Please join us in praying the Rosary outdoors. We will meet monthly from May to October on the 13th of each month at 7:00 PM at the St. Rita statue on the St. Rita grounds (near the parish office doors). Our next Rosary will be said on Friday, September 13. Rosaries, prayer booklets and assistance will be provided, if needed. The event will be canceled in the case of inclement weather. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and your friends and family. If you have small children, feel free to come for only one decade, if that is what works for your family. All are welcome!
Welcome Back Mass
St. Rita Parish would like to welcome all school families back for another fun and successful year. Be sure to join your parish family for the 10:30 AM Mass on Sunday, September 14. Students are encouraged to wear St. Rita uniforms to show their school pride. If you take a photo of your child in their uniform at church and send it to their teacher or Mrs. Lopez, they can earn an OOU pass. There will be refreshments and a time to mingle with fellow school families and parishioners afterwards. Children are encouraged to play an active part in the Mass.
We Make T-shirts is an online store where spirit wear shirts and sweaters can be purchased. T-shirts and hooded sweaters can only be worn during out of uniform days. Fleece zip ups or track jackets can be worn as part of the daily uniform. Purchase your uniform jackets here.
