Dear St. Rita Families,
It has been a week filled with faith, joy, and connection at St. Rita School.
On Monday, our school community gathered for the Living Rosary, a beautiful tradition led by our students. Each prayer bead represented a student’s voice as we honored Mary together. A special thank-you goes to our second-grade parents for helping your children prepare for their roles and for joining us in prayer. Your presence and support made the celebration even more meaningful.
On Tuesday, we celebrated Ebele’s Day, a special time to remember and honor the life of Ebele Okon, our beloved student whose joyful spirit continues to inspire us. Students played friendly, cross-grade soccer games—one of Ebele’s favorite activities—and took time to reflect on her kindness, laughter, and faith. It was a touching reminder of the love and unity that define our community.
After Mass on Thursday, Father Thomas made time to visit several classrooms, where he shared stories, answered questions, and sparked meaningful discussions with our students. His presence throughout the morning brought warmth and insight to our school.
Thank you to all parents who attended Parent-Teacher Conferences on Friday. Your partnership and engagement are vital to the growth and success of our students. We appreciate the thoughtful conversations and your continued support of our teachers and classrooms.
As we move through November, we are grateful for the many ways our community prays, plays, and learns together. Thank you for the faith and care you bring to our school each day.
With gratitude,
Mrs. Beth Woodward
Principal, St. Rita Catholic School
Dismissal Reminder
We appreciate your patience and cooperation during dismissal. A special thank you to all parents who wait for the “slow” sign before driving forward at the end of the day. For everyone’s safety, please do not move your vehicle until you see a teacher display the “slow” sign. Your attentiveness helps keep our students safe. It is normally just a three or four minute wait from dismissal until the “go” signal.

Please remember that students should wear their regular uniforms on Fridays. Our Spirit Wear Fridays will begin after Thanksgiving. We’ll share more details as we get closer to that time.

7th Grade- Talked about what it was like growing up in India. He didn't have a favorite food because any food that filled his belly was his favorite. He didn't have electricity in his home until he was in 7th grade (same age as kids). He would study at home with a candle or kerosene lamp. He worked hard taking care of the animals and plants when he finished school. Both his parents were very Catholic and strict about religion. They did night prayers every day and read from the Bible. He talked about what it was like to come to America and how different that was. He said when he first came he couldn't understand what people were saying. It was a really great conversation.
2nd Grade- Talked about Confession and Reconciliation. He talked about how he too sins and he goes to Reconciliation once a month. The kids had really amazing questions for him about sin and reconciliation. They asked him if sin makes you far away from God. He assured them that God is always with them no matter what they do but that sometimes it is hard to feel God when we sin. It is just like if we close our eyes. You can't see the lights on in the classroom but the lights are on even if we can't see it.
Kindergarten- The kindergarten class sang their Catholic ABC song for Father and he LOVED it!
Grades 3rd-8th came together to read the prayers while the 2nd graders acted out the mysteries of the Rosary and read the prayers this past Monday.
The St. Rita volleyball season came to an exciting close this past week with the playoffs, featuring some truly amazing and fun games to wrap up the year.

Tablesetters - Community Service Group
Children in kindergarten through 8th grade are welcome to participate in the community service group at St. Rita called Tablesetters. We meet once a month to learn about Catholic social teaching and participate in service opportunities which reflect those teachings. Some examples of projects from the past are: making dog toys for the Humane Society, collecting winter clothes for a local school, making "blessing bags" for the patrons of the St. Patrick's meal program, planting bulbs on the St. Rita grounds, making scarves and hats for the Hospitality Center, and making cards for our homebound parishioners. Participation in Tablesetters gives students the opportunity to play a real part in the local and global work of serving our community. It's fun to work together in helping others!
Diaper and Wipes Collection
The Tablesetters service group at St. Rita School will be collecting diapers and wipes for the month of October. Donations will be accepted at St. Rita Church or School. Diapers of all sizes are accepted but larger sizes (3,4,5 & 6) are most needed. Together we can help keep little ones in our community happy and healthy!
