Well, we turned the corner! ON Monday, it will be officially May.
We are so proud of our 13 2nd graders who completed their First Holy Communion on April 22. They were so excited to receive the body of Christ. One student shared, "I cannot wait until this Sunday, it will be the second time I get to receive the body of Christ." Wow-Powerful!
Sunday, April 30 we celebrate all of our amazing student atheletes. The event is at St. Rita's, 4:30pm in the gym. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Mr. Tom Ferguson. A huge shout out to all of our student athletes, coaches and Mr. Ferguson. We are very appreciative of their time and energy in not only coaching but providing character building and life skills to our student athletes.
In the Catholic faith, May is traditionally dedicated in a special way to honoring and seeking the intercession of Mary as the Mother of God and Mother of the Church. And, one way to do this is to say the following prayer each day. "O Mary, my Mother and my Lady, I offer You my soul, my body, my life and my death, and all that will follow it. I place everything in Your hands. O my Mother, cover my soul with Your virginal mantle and grant me the grace of purity of heart, soul and body." Another way to honor Mary is to pray the rosary. The word “Rosary” means a chain of roses and the roses are prayers. The Rosary Prayer tells us about the life of Jesus and his Mother, Mary. In the Church, the month of October is, by custom, the month of the Rosary but people do use this prayer all the year round.
We are working hard on our spring STAR Assessments. Classes that are averaging an increase are getting an extra recess. Ms. Folker, St. Rita's Learning Support Coordinator has been working tirelessly getting everyone set. Reports will be sent home once we have completed the spring assessment. This assessment demonstrates their growth from fall, winter to spring in reading and math.
We are looking forward to Career Day! Counselor, Coach Bodi set up a panel of individuals representing different careers! We will be hearing from several individuals in a panel discussion on Monday. Scroll further down this newsletter for the fun OOU day planned.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
Many Blessings,
Dr. Sue

Hello St. Rita families - In art class, we are currently working on a bunch of fun, summery, colorful projects. K3, K4, Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade just finished up some symmetrical butterflies that they painted. Those should be making their way home shortly. 3rd & 4th grade are working on a project inspired by Galileo's telescope - super cool and uses a mix of materials. 5th grade is working on a rendering of the Mona Lisa and focusing on showing what a value scale is. 6th grade is working on a grid drawing of a saint of their choice - very proud of their work. 7th and 8th grade are finishing up a grid drawing of playing cards and then moving onto Blackout Poetry with novels that I've found.
Be sure to ask your student about the projects we're working on!
Who is St. Rita?
Santa Rita is often referred to as Saint Rita of Cascia — an Italian widow and Augustinian nun who lived from 1381 to 1457. She is known at the Patroness of Impossible Causes and became a nun at age 36 after the death of her husband and her twin sons. When she was around 60 years of age, a small wound appeared on her forehead while she prayed. The wound was considered a partial Stigmata in reference to the crown of thorns that encircled Christ’s head, and she bore the wound until her death at age 76. When her body was prepared for funeral and later exhumed over the years, her forehead wound remained the same with glistening light reflected from the drops of blood. Her body also showed no decomposition and she was declared incorruptible.
Saint Rita forever became associated with a rose. When nearing the end of her life, she asked a visiting cousin to bring her a rose from her old home. Her cousin complied and was surprised to find a single rose blooming in the January garden and brought it back to Saint Rita.

General Football information
The Football Program operates under the overall RYS philosophy of “Giving Kids a Sporting Chance”. The objectives of this program are to develop the physical and mental well being of the individual, to increase self-confidence and self-respect, and to encourage leadership development. We wish to develop better citizens through team play and sportsmanship-like competition. Provide a quality physical education program, allow every youth player to participate, and develop their skills to the extent they desire. We teach a positive attitude toward competition and discourage the “win at all costs” attitude. The goal is to teach each player that they are a winner if they give their best effort-regardless of the score.
