Dear St. Rita Families,
As we enter the season of Advent, our school is filled with a sense of hope and joyful expectation. Advent invites us to slow down, reflect, and prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. Our students have already begun embracing this spirit through prayer, service, and small acts of kindness throughout the day. It is a beautiful way to begin this holy season together.
With the winter months now truly upon us, please remember to send students with warm clothing each day. We do go outside for recess as long as the windchill is above 0°, and proper winter gear helps ensure everyone can enjoy this time safely and comfortably. Stretchy gloves get wet and are very cold to wear for a second recess, so please consider sending a second pair of gloves or buying a pair of waterproof mittens that are meant for snow.
A reminder that Monday is a Holy Day of Obligation. We will attend Mass on Monday next week instead of Thursday. Because of this, students should be in uniform on Monday—no Out of Uniform passes that day, please.
We are also excited to invite all families to our School Christmas Concerts on Thursday evening.
3K–3rd Grade Concert: 5:00 p.m.
4th–8th Grade Concert: 6:00 p.m.
Doors will open at 4:45 p.m., and families should please use the gym doors for entry at that time. Our students have been working very hard and cannot wait to share their music with you!
As part of our Advent season of giving, please remember that Advent Basket items are due next week. These baskets help support our school fundraiser, and your generosity makes such a meaningful difference. Thank you for contributing to this tradition of service.
As always, thank you for your continued partnership in your child’s education. We are grateful for your support, your trust, and the joy your children bring to our school each day.
Blessings on your Advent season,
Beth Woodward
Principal, St. Rita Catholic School
We appreciate your patience and cooperation during dismissal. A special thank you to all parents who wait for the “slow” sign before driving forward at the end of the day. For everyone’s safety, please do not move your vehicle until you see a teacher display the “slow” sign. Your attentiveness helps keep our students safe. It is normally just a three or four minute wait from dismissal until the “go” signal.
During the Winter months, students are required to wear pants, skirts/jumpers with Black, navy, or white leggings only. No shorts should be worn until March 16th.

Advent Prayer (Jesse Tree) Led by Kindergarten, First and Second Grade
Children in kindergarten through 8th grade are welcome to participate in the community service group at St. Rita called Tablesetters. We meet once a month to learn about Catholic social teaching and participate in service opportunities which reflect those teachings. Some examples of projects from the past are: making dog toys for the Humane Society, collecting winter clothes for a local school, making "blessing bags" for the patrons of the St. Patrick's meal program, planting bulbs on the St. Rita grounds, making scarves and hats for the Hospitality Center, and making cards for our homebound parishioners. Participation in Tablesetters gives students the opportunity to play a real part in the local and global work of serving our community. It's fun to work together in helping others!
