October 14 SOLES WALK FOR CATHOLIC EDUCATION/ANNUAL FUNDRAISER
Hello St. Rita Parents and Students,
As we head into a new school year, it is helpful to refresh our memories about routines and procedures for our students. Since this is my first year at St. Rita, I will be learning too! If you are one of the few people who hasn't completed your emergency card yet, please take care of that before school starts next week. Here are a couple of reminders about our general communications and procedures to start the year.
NEWSLETTER COMMUNICATIONS-- Fridays
Online is the only way to receive this communication. No hard copies will be distributed. It is best to have all parents and guardians who may want to be involved with child’s education signed up for it.
SwiftReach SwiftK12– As Needed
I would typically use this to alert parents to something that needs to be distributed prior to the weekly newsletter. It will again come as electronic form.
CLASS DOJO
This App may be downloaded from the App store or GooglePlay for mobile use.
Teachers will send invites/ information about joining the classroom within the first week or two of school
Teachers in younger grades typically use this to share pictures of the class activities with parents
Parents can message the teachers through the app and let them know what may be going on with their child to give teachers a heads up.
POWERSCHOOL – online grading communication tool used by Siena. Also includes parent portal for annual forms to be completed (i.e., emergency contacts, medical information, etc.)
If you are not receiving any of these, please contact Maria Lopez in the school office at mlopez@sienacatholicschools.org or 262-639-3333.
The sooner you are connected, the easier it will be for you and your child.
UNIFORM POLICY:
Detailed information is available in the school newsletters and handbook. The uniform is navy polos, khaki pants/skorts/shorts, uniform plaid skirts/jumpers, tennis shoes. Additional guidelines are included in the policy.
Navy sweaters will be allowed in addition to the white sweaters.
CAR DROP OFF / PICK UP:
School doors open at 8:00 am
Entering in from Douglas Ave you are to drive towards the church and make a U-turn at the SECOND (2nd) opening in the boulevard.
Entering from Elizabeth St you will drive down the boulevard and pull into the parking lot
Entering from Lora St, please be careful and watch for exiting traffic especially if you are trying to get in this way close to the start/end of the day. Please enter the parking lot and turn your car to face WEST towards the SCHOOL. DO NOT drive past the walkway.
First row of cars should be even with the lights/ basketball hoops. Car should be facing WEST towards the SCHOOL
Second row will be behind the first row. Leave space to be able to maneuver around the car ahead of you in the event you can leave before they do
Third row will be against the grass, facing WEST towards the SCHOOL. This is the ONLY place you are allowed to back into and must be done prior to students being allowed in/out of school.
DO NOT park in the walkway
Cars do not need to be socially distanced. Allow enough room for the car doors to open, but it is not necessary to leave half a car length between
When exiting the parking lot, only go FORWARD; NO BACKING UP IN THE PARKING LOT!
If you are parked NORTH of the walkway, you are to exit to the right leading to behind the school
If you are parked SOUTH of the walkway, you are to exit to the left out the boulevard towards Douglas Ave or towards the church. Please watch for traffic coming down the boulevard if you are exiting out towards the church.
3K/4K parents are the only parents that should be walking their children to the doors.
3K/4K will enter school through the WEST doors facing Douglas Ave. Mrs. Bev and Mrs. Terri along with Mrs. Mary and Ms. Amanda will be waiting for the children there.
Please refrain from entering the school with your child, as the hallways get crowded with the students getting to their classes.
Additionally, it can make drop-off harder on your child and trigger others if they have some separation anxiety
Children are NOT to be dropped off and left unattended, for even a few minutes. If you must be somewhere earlier, the Before and After School Care (BASC) room is open in the school.
For safety reasons, children will remain in their cars until at least 8:00 a.m. At that time, a school staff member will motion for the children to come into the school building. Students are directed to enter by section in the parking lot.
3k/4k is dismissed at 2:50pm. Any 3k/4k students left at 3pm will be taken to the BASC room
Regardless of older children attending school, all 3K/4K students MUST be picked up by 3pm.
K5-8 classes are dismissed at 3:10 p.m. Any student left after 3:15 p.m. will be taken to the BASC room.
BASC will charge for a portion of a quarter of an hour for any time used, even 5 minutes.
School policy states that NO child will be allowed to sit in the office to wait for a late parent.
BUS DROP OFF / PICK UP:
Busing is available through RUSD busing for all students living within the St. Rita’s dedicated geographical zone (the lake to the east, County Line to the north, Nicholson Rd to the west, and 3 Mile Rd to the south). Bus schedules have already been sent out by RUSD.
Any concerns/questions need to be directed to the Supervisor of Transportation at 262-631-7138 or transportation.department@rusd.org.
SCHOOL SECURITY SYSTEM:
Building is locked during and after school hours –
During the school day: You must enter the building through the EAST doors and use the buzzer to gain access to school or alert office staff of what you need
BASC: You will enter the school through the WEST doors and use the buzzer to gain access to the BASC room
BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE (BASC)
Before and after school childcare – WEST door to school facing Douglas Avenue is for drop off and pick up. Opens at 6:30 a.m. and closes at 6:00 p.m.

Students and families are bound by the following uniform and appearance code. Parents are responsible to see that the child(ren) conform to policies. If you have questions about a uniform item, bring the item to school or call. In cases of repeated violations, we reserve the right to have the parent bring appropriate clothing items from home, or we would provide used items to wear.
UNIFORM-DRESS CODE AND APPEARANCE
Students and their families are bound by the following uniform and appearance code for all students in grades 4K-8.
3K students are not required to wear uniforms; however, they are required to wear tennis shoes. No other shoes/boots are permitted as a “day type” shoe. 3K students should bring winter boots in appropriate weather with a change of tennis shoes.
Parents are responsible to see that the child(ren) conform to this required policy. If you have questions about a uniform item, bring the item to school. In cases where a child may simply forget, we reserve the right at any time to have the parent bring appropriate clothing items from home while the child waits in the main office. Students will not be allowed to return to class until the proper uniform is worn. In addition, (pending size) we may provide used uniform items for the student to wear so that we do not disrupt their learning environment waiting for proper clothes.
The administration reserves the right to administer progressive discipline. Violations will result in disciplinary action including detention, suspension, and up to expulsion for repeated offenders.
GENERAL STUDENT APPEARANCE
Appearance of Clothing: Clean, free from wrinkles, no holes, tears, repairs, faded, or stained clothing of any kind.
Personal Hygiene and Perfume: Students in grades four through eight should shower daily and apply antiperspirant or deodorant. Perfume/cologne in any form is not allowed. Artificial nails are not allowed.

Noticeable coloring, highlighting, or streaking of hair is not allowed and must be returned to the original color within 24 hours. Simple hair bands or barrettes in modest style and color may be worn.

Modest necklaces and bracelets are allowed but no large medallions or noisy charms. Wallets, belt chains, keys, and purses are not permitted in class. No visible permanent or temporary tattoos can be permitted.
Spirit Wear
St. Rita Spirit Wear (separate from the uniform jacket) is purchased for outerwear or casual dress and may not be worn to class except on out-of-uniform days. Hooded sweatshirts may not be worn in class. Opportunity to purchase St. Rita spirit wear will be sent home and announced during the school year.
Special cases
In the event of a cast or medical condition, special allowances may be made to the uniform policies to accommodate individual needs.

If students are not wearing the correct uniform, they shall be given available items from the used uniform collection to wear or a parent/guardian will be required to deliver proper attire upon notification if there is not correct sizing in the used uniform collection.
